My family is complicated. There are so many secrets entwined it would take a Ph.D. to unravel them all.
What I can tell you is this:
I promise we will see each other again. I’ll do everything in my power, at least. Granted, as a seventeen-year-old girl, that isn’t much, but I won’t always be seventeen.
I promise that when I can, I will tell you everything. But only when it’s safe. I care about you and Loren. I’d never want to put you in danger; going out to eat with us already did enough.
And lastly, I promise to finish that conversation we started before everything blew up.
Until then, I hope you gave Nicco a hard time. Tell Loren I miss her and that Nicco had no choice. I promise he wasn’t to blame. Even Attie isn’t to blame, though I’m the maddest at him; he’s only doing what he thinks is best. But Nicco, he’s a good one. I hope she gives him a second chance. I’ll admit though, it will be fun to watch him sweat.
I’ll try again to reach out, if not in person.
Your friend,
Immy
