CHAPTER FIVE
The giant mansion in front of us was the biggest house I have ever seen, and I have never seen such luxurious cars parked in the driveway. I couldn’t help but feel that I was out of place, putting on a show and being someone that I’m not. I knew this was all a plan, but it still felt a little… wrong.
“Are you ready for this?” Liam asked me coldly, sounding like he was a little agitated, “this is only the first step in my plan. You have to remember everything we spoke about. Okay?”
He put the car in park, and I nodded, “yes, I remember everything, Liam. And if anything, you’ll be right there to help me as well. Don’t just throw me to the wolves, okay?”
For a split second, I saw his lips twitch into a slight smirk, but it was quickly gone, “don’t worry, I’m not that mean, Mila. I’ll protect you, that much I can promise.”
I wasn’t sure what he meant by that, but I didn’t get a chance to ask him as he turned off the car and got out. I thought he was going to make me get out myself, he rounded the car and held the door open for me. I knew then that we must be being watched once more as he had to act like we were a couple.
“Is there anything else I should know?” I asked him softly, linking my arm with his as we walked up the road, “I don’t want to do anything stupid.”
“Not really.” He grumbled, watching the mansion with fierce eyes, “just to fair warn you though, the women can be a little much. My brothers… they aren’t so bad. They might stare at you and wonder where the hell you came from, but that’ll pretty much be it.”
“Okay, that sounds reassuring enough.” I whispered, feeling a little afraid of that, “well, I will do my best to make you happy, Liam.”
He halted for a split moment, gazing down at me once more with those cold eyes, “while in here, refer to me as Daddy. That’s what all the women do with their partner.”
My heart practically skipped a beat, feeling more nervous now, “okay, daddy.”
And if I was paying attention, I would’ve seen the way his eyes darkened.
I just need to get out of this unscathed.
Liam
The moment we walked through the front door, I saw all eyes turn to us. It was Brigham and Ava’s bridal party, a time to celebrate before their wedding day soon. I didn’t care that all eyes were on us, wanting them to talk.
“Liam, who is this?” Ava approached us with Brigham by her side, eyes wide as she curiously looked at Mila, “I’ve never seen you with a girl before.”
“Yes, I’d like to know, too.” Evelyn agreed, dragging Graham towards us, a hand on her swollen belly, “Liam, what is going on here? Who is she?”
Mila held out her hand to them, smiling, “Hi, my name is Mila. Sorry for showing up here unexpectedly with Liam, we have been keeping our relationship a little bit of a secret right now. Liam finally thought it was better to come clean about it now since we decided to get married.”
Wow, she’s good.
“Married?” Evelyn squeaked, her eyes flying to Mila’s hand, “where’s the ring?”
Mila froze slightly, realizing that she wasn’t wearing a ring, “oh no, I for-”
“I knew you’d forget, baby girl,” I murmured softly, pulling the ring I had bought out of my pocket, feeling happy that I remembered this, “I made sure to grab your ring before we came here. You’re so forgetful.”
Mila was being the great actress, holding out her hand to me, “oh, thank you, daddy. I’m sorry about being so forgetful. I don’t know what I would do without you.”
I slipped the ring onto her finger, bringing her hand up to my lips, seeing how everyone was watching our exchange, “it’s okay, beautiful, I’ll be there to remember for you. Just… don’t take my ring off your finger. I don’t want others to think that you’re taken.”
Her eyes were slightly widened, watching me with parted lips, as if she couldn’t believe what we were doing. I hoped she would snap out of it and do everything according to plan. What I didn’t expect was for her to lean in, and press her lips softly against my cheek, sending shocks through my body.
What the-
“Don’t worry, daddy, that’ll never be an issue.” She whispered before turning back to my family, “now, what’s there to eat? I’m hungry.”
What kind of woman did I just find? She’s… different.
How peculiar.
