Knowing that this guy is quite clearly Theo’s rival should raise some red flags. I mean, it does. But not enough to make me stop or put any space between us.

The image of him whispering in Sloane’s ear in the kitchen not so long ago assaults me and I go all in with this guy, whoever he is, wrapping my leg around the back of his thigh and forcing him closer.

“So who do you play for, then?”

In all honesty, I couldn’t give a rat’s arse about his team, or the game in general. But if my suspicions are correct, I’m sure one of the members of our team will alert the boss. And I kinda can’t wait to see his reaction.

Excitement bubbles up inside me. I love watching him lose control. It doesn’t happen very often. But the couple of times it has… Damn. I’m not sure I’ve ever been so turned on in my life.

“All Hallows,” he says, as if that’s meant to mean something to me. As if I’m meant to be… impressed? “It’s in Oxford,” he adds.

“Right. Cool.”

Reaching up, he tucks my hair behind my ear, his warm knuckles brushing over my cheek.

“You’re not like all the others, are you?”

“I should really fucking hope not.”

He chuckles, not allowing me to get a read on whether I’ve just impressed or offended him. Not that I really give a shit.

“Clearly I’ve been in the wrong city,” he murmurs. “Dance with me?”

Downing my drink, which is a total waste for how much it probably cost, I wince at the burn. He took my words seriously, because it’s strong. Stronger than any I made myself.

He really is a man on a mission.

Well, luckily for him, so am I.

Wrapping his hands around my waist, he effortlessly lifts me from the dresser and drags me back toward the dancing crowd.

Ducking down, his lips brush my ear, his hot breath tickling over my skin.

“And to think I wasn’t going to come tonight.”

“I’m glad you did,” I breathe, leaning into him as he pulls me into his body, hips moving in time to the music.

This boy can dance. That much is immediately obvious.

“Me too. Tell me you’re single.”

I can’t help but laugh at the hope and slight desperation in his voice. “Painfully so.”

“Well,” he says, rolling his hips against me, “maybe I can be of assistance.”

“What makes you think I’m that kind of girl, Ben?”

“I don’t. I’m just trying my luck.”

“Trying to win one over on the Knight’s Ridge team, more like,” I tease.

He tenses, giving me all the answer I need.

“It’s cool,” I shout when the music suddenly gets louder as the song changes. “I’d be lying if I said my intentions with you were entirely innocent.”

“Where have you been all my life?” he kids, taking my hand and making me twirl away from him. More than a few eyes fall on us as we dance, and as each song passes my head becomes increasingly fuzzy.

It’s pretty much everything I hoped it would be.
