“Didn’t you sleep very well?”

And apparently, it’s just as obvious to others as it was to me when I looked in the mirror. Great.

“No,” I grunt. I’ve got a lot on my mind.

She gives me a soft smile and turns toward the coffee machine, knowing exactly what I need.

“Angie?” I ask while she busies herself making breakfast.

“Yeah.”

“D-do you know where my dad is?”

She looks back over her shoulder, a deep frown line between her brows.

“No, I don’t. I’m sorry. He just said he’d be gone until last night. Did he not come home?”

No, he certainly wasn’t here for that. And Seb damn well knew it too, didn’t he? Asshole.

“Not that I know of.”

“I’m sure he’ll call.”

I mutter an agreement, thinking of all the bullshit messages that are sitting on my cell.

I don’t want a fucking message. I want the truth.

“Here you go. Hopefully this will perk you up a little. Is there anything I can do to help?”

There are a million questions on the tip of my tongue, but I swallow them all down. I know Angie cares about me. She’s been the closest thing I’ve ever had to a mother, but ultimately, she’s on my father’s payroll, so I’d be naïve to think that her loyalties weren’t to him, and if I start asking questions, she’ll tip him off.

I need answers, but I’m going to have to wait. I guess I’ve already waited almost eighteen years.

“Thank you,” I say sincerely when Angie places the coffee mug in front of me.

I don’t feel any better for it when I pull up at Knight’s Ridge just over an hour later. The only positive thing is that I’m back in my own car and that asshole didn’t leave me a little note as a reminder of our time together last night.

I don’t need any more than those he left on my body. I swear to God my skin looks like a dot to freaking dot of Seb’s wicked kinks.

I sit in my car as long as possible, but after watching almost all the other students head inside ready for homeroom, I know I need to shift my ass.

There has been no sign of Seb and his band of twisted douchebags, and I’ve still had no contact from Toby.

My stomach twists once more as I stare at their empty parking spaces.

I was hoping to enter after them, but it seems that plan has failed.

With a heavy sigh, I drag my exhausted body from the car and make my way toward the building.

The rumble of a motorbike behind me forces me to turn back, and when I do, a smile tugs at my lips.

Of course Emmie would turn up at school on the back of a badass bike.

She climbs off and rips her helmet from her head before grabbing her bags from the top box. It gives the driver a chance to pull his own helmet off, and my chin damn near hits the floor.

Fuck me.

He says something to her before she turns and marches my way.
