Doc checked the back of my head and asked me a series of questions, which I answered. He flashed a light in my eyes as well. Finally, he was done. “I think you’re shaken up and in slight shock,” he said. “But no concussion. Are there still shock blankets behind the desk?”
“I’ll go get one,” Talon said.
“You guys have shock blankets?” Was that standard protocol for biker bars?
“Now and then we do raids of the Demon biker gang compounds,” Doc said. “We don’t go as often as the other chapters because we’re a little more removed from the action, but when we do, shock blankets come in handy for us and the people we rescue.”
I looked from him to Talon who was handing me a blanket. “Oh,” I said dumbly. I couldn’t think of anything else to say.
“Wrap it around you and rest for a little while,” Doc said. “You’ll be fine.” He smiled kindly at me before standing up.
I wrapped the blanket around my shoulders. I had been dreaming about snuggling into a blanket all day but this wasn’t what I had in mind.
Doc left the office, leaving just me and Talon left. He handed me the stuffy, his expression conflicted. I hugged it to my chest, under the blanket. “I’ll be right back,” he said. “Just hang tight. I promise I’ll help you get through this.”
