I stared down at the phone that was still in my hand as I looked at the few brothers that were sitting around the table in the clubhouse.

“What’s up?” Lincoln asked.

Greek and Clutchwere looking at me with a raised brow. Heathen just held the blank face he always held, but his eyes were on me.

“Collins was asked what she wanted for her Make-A-Wish. She fucking wants to attend a real biker party.” I said it flabbergasted.

I was still shocked.

A civilian. A six-year-old, no, a seven-year-old, wants to hang out with a rough and rowdy crowd.

A crowd that most run away in the other direction when they see us coming.

“This will be the best biker party she’s ever seen.” I declared.

Conleigh

Collins had just been taken back to the OR, the same as Skinner when I felt Gage wrap his arms around me. “Come on. Let’s go get a bite of shitty cafeteria food while we wait.”

Nodding, we walked with his arm around my shoulder to the cafeteria.

I had a few things I wanted to say to him, and this would give us the privacy to do so.

After we paid for our food and sat at a booth where no one could hear, I looked at him, then said, “Can I talk to you about something?”

He rolled his eyes, “Baby girl, how many times do I have to tell you, you can talk to me about anything?”

With everything that has been going on with Collins, I haven’t felt like talking about this, but I was ready. Oh, how I was ready.

Because a man that wasn’t more than sleeping with a woman and that would play his guitar for a little girl’s birthday when he got nothing from it?

A man that would step up to the plate and give everything he had?

I didn’t feel worthy of this man. But he sure thought I was. And that’s when it hit me. I was in love with this man. Completely in love with this man.

“When Collins gets the all-clear, fingers crossed, this surgery works, I’m going to see if she wants to spend the night with Laci. And if you still want me, then I’m yours. Body, heart, and soul. I’ve never met a man before that I saw myself within that capacity. Not until I met you. But I do have a question. I’ve never been around an MC before. But I wouldn’t imagine that they would step up like they have been if I were just some woman you were seeing. So, what are we exactly?”

“You’re my ole lady. I’ve been waiting for this conversation for you to get where I am. I promised you we would go at your pace. And I meant every word of that. I’ve also already got your property kutte. We don’t have to do anything Conleigh. Just having you and Collins in my life, I’ll die a happy man just with that.”

Not wanting to cry today, instead, I said, “You never asked me.”

He looked confused for a second and it was adorable, “Never asked you what?”

“If I wanted to be your ole’ lady.” I teased.

“Don’t need to ask something when it’s a foregone conclusion.” He said without pause.

Chuckling, I asked, “Is that right?”

“Yes, ma’am it is.” And with that, he grabbed his burger and took a big bite.

Smiling, I shook my head and then started to eat my food.

Twenty minutes later, we found ourselves in the surgical waiting room as we waited. And before long, there was nothing in the room but black leather.

Laci came up to me then and held out a card, “Mommy and me made this for Collins. To help her get better.”
