Swallowing, I nodded, “I’ve got this. Anything else?”

Tiredly she whispered, “No.”

Nodding, I swept her up in my arms with my hand around her lower back and my arm around her knees.

Carrying her through an open door, I peeked inside and realized that it was her bedroom. “You got a bathroom in here?”

When I felt her head nod against my chest, I walked to the open door, and then I set her down on the toilet seat.

Turning the water on in her tub, I poured some lavender-looking shit that, on the bottle said it relaxes you, into the water. Then I grabbed a towel that was curled up with a few others in a cabinet above her toilet and placed it on the floor beside the tub.

“In you go. Then get in bed, Baby girl. You need me, just holler. I’m not going anywhere.” Taking in the bags under her eyes, my heart broke for her.

I didn’t know their whole story of why she was a single mother. Oh, but I would be finding out. You best believe that. They were mine. I needed to know if some asshole would ever try to take them from me. The keyword in that was try.

Just as I stepped out of the way and headed for the door, I looked over my shoulder and saw a sliver of warm skin on her belly from where she began pulling a t-shirt over her head. Fucking hell. My mouth fucking watered.

Walking out of her bedroom I told my dick to settle fuck down. This wasn’t the time for him.

Knowing that Conleigh told me that Collins had to eat something, I riffled through her fridge and grabbed the cheese and the butter. Grabbing the loaf of bread that was on the counter, I set everything near the stove.

This shit was comical.

She had everything set up in her own home, the same as I did.

The skillet was in the bottom drawer underneath the oven.

Grabbing it, I started the oven, and then, when the pan was ready, I dropped some butter in it.

Then I set about preparing the sandwiches, and when the butter started to lightly melt, I dropped the first sandwich in the pan.

When it was ready, I flipped it.

That was when I heard the water being drained out of the tub. Shaking my head that there was no way that she had time to relax, I smiled.

Clenching my hands into fists, I stopped myself from going to Conleigh to make sure she was alright.

Yeah, that’s what I was about to do. Right?

Fuck no. I wanted to see her. See all of her. The hourglass curve. Whether she had any freckles on her skin. Whether she had dusty pink nipples. If she trimmed, shaved it, or just let it be. Fuck, I hoped she let it be or at the very least trimmed it.

Seeing a bare pussy made me feel like a pedophile. I was a grown-ass man.

Shaking my head to clear the thoughts that were running rampant in my mind, this wasn’t the time nor the place. Collins. Collins needed to eat something and take her medicine.

Taking the sandwich out, I made the other one and when it was done, I placed both of them on the plate. I grabbed a glass of water and her medicine and then I went to Collins’s room.

I found out firsthand that Collins wasn’t an easy riser. Not that I blamed her.

It took me five fucking minutes to get her to wake up.

She drank her water without saying a word and ate one of the sandwiches. I ate the other one when she handed it to me.

Knowing that she was about to pass the fuck back out, I went ahead and helped her take her pills.

Seeing the grimace on her face, it tore me to fucking shreds.

Five minutes later, after I covered her back up and placed a kiss on her forehead, I closed the door.
