“You,” she sputters with a mouth full of my meat.

“Damn right. Now suck like a good girl, so I can fill that tight little pussy and put my baby in there.”

“Yes, sir.”

“That’s what I want to hear.” She sucks harder and I reach over, spanking her ass. Her cry sends my orgasm out of me. I nut all over my hand and stomach and throw my head back against my pillow just as my phone rings.

“Hello,” I grunt, not even looking to see who it is.

“What are you up to, Sheriff Marlowe?”

“Bad girl, I was thinking about shoving my cock down your pretty little throat. Now I’ve made a mess of my hand and stomach. I wish you were here to lick it up.”

“Such a pity, but it’s payback. I made a big mess out of my panties this morning.”

“Fuck, you’re killing me.”

“Never. I need you. Shouldn’t you be getting ready for your shift instead of beating off?”

“Damn, woman. I can’t wait to get my hands on you.”

“Neither can I. I’ve got to get back to work. I just called to say I miss you. I gave my notice this morning. They were not pleased, but fuck ‘em.”

“If they give you any shit, walk out and quit.”

“Sounds good to me, but I’ll try to be a good employee. Anyway. Get to work, handsome. I’d shower first, though. Miss you.”

“Miss you more.”

“Doubt it.” She hangs up like the brat she is before I can argue otherwise. I hang up, laughing, knowing she’s probably gloating about how she got me to come on myself, but only she has that power over me and I don’t give two fucks about it. Looking at the time, I still have an hour, but I need to hit the shower and get some breakfast in me so I hop off the bed and get my ass on the move.

Chapter Six

Lydia

I’ve been away from Whitaker for two whole days. It’s been brutal and sad, but we talk all the time. In fact, I’ve just gotten off the phone with him, but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss him like crazy. Goodness, my heart and head are all about him.

“How’s the book coming?” Georgie asks, coming into the living room with a bag of popcorn and a drink.

“Are we watching a movie tonight?” I ask, intentionally avoiding the question.

“Yes, ma’am. I think we need some sisterly bonding time before you run off with that sexy sheriff. Now, stop avoiding the question. Answer me.”

“What question?”

“The book?”

“It’s going great. I’ve managed to finish it and sent it off to Sean this morning,” I blurt out in the rush after shoving a bunch of popcorn in my mouth so she doesn’t hear that last bit or so I hope she doesn’t, but from the screech in her voice, I know she does.

“Sean? You’ve spoken to him?” Her eyes narrow.

“Yes, I have. He’s shopping my book around.”

“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.” She crosses her arms like I’ve betrayed her, but it’s not like she’s dating the guy or anything, and neither am I. In fact, according to her they’re nothing to each other, so why should it even matter that he’s taking me on as one of his clients?

“Well, you wanted nothing to do with him, so I didn’t think it was a big deal.”

“It’s not a big deal that you work with him, but that you thought I couldn’t handle you telling me.”

My brow shoots up as I scoff, “You mean like you are right now?”

“Whatever. I’m fine. I don’t care that Sean hasn’t bothered to contact me.”

“Okay. Sure. I love you, Georgie.” I grip her shoulders and look her in the eyes and say, “I have to tell you. He has asked about you.”

“Are you serious?” Her eyes light up but then she straightens her expression like she doesn’t give a fuck, but she’s trying to fool the wrong person. I’m her best friend and sister, and there’s no way she can scam me with that shit.

“Yes. He doesn’t have your number.”

“Oh. And you didn’t give it to him?” she asks, like that’s even an option.

“You didn’t say we could.”

“Never mind. It’s not important. Anyway, let’s watch the Jungle Cruise because I need to have a good old-fashioned movie night with The Rock.”

“We can do it for sure.” I send a text to Whit. Sister night. Watching a movie and powering down my phone. He doesn’t respond before I shut it off, but he’s on duty right now. I forget about work and the attitude I’ve caught there since I gave my notice. Not that it matters anymore. While I dig into the popcorn and the film, I do my best to forget about Whit and give my sister the time we need together.

The movie’s entertaining and good enough to keep me focused. As soon as it’s over, I power my phone back on and have a text message from Whit. Have a good time, baby. I’ll be working all night long. Miss you.
