“Ka-fuckin’-boom!” Sig shouted, then rubbed his hands together, a fucked-up gleam in his eyes.
Whip never saw the man look this excited over anything.
“What about the rest of them?” Deacon asked, looking the exact opposite of Sig.
“Rest of who?” Judge asked his cousin.
“The kids. The women. The reasons we never did anythin’ this drastic before.”
“Yeah,” Trip mumbled, then ripped his hat back off his head and raked his fingers through his hair. “Still workin’ out those details.”
“That cunt and her man are goin’ down. Don’t give a fuck what’s between her legs,” Sig announced. “Anyone who can do that to her own blood needs to lose every drop of that blood in that traitorous body ’til there’s nothin’ left.”
He had to be talking about Red’s mom and stepfather since they were the ones who had traded Red to the Shirleys in exchange for another female for their Ohio clan. They were the ones who put Red in the nightmarish spot she’d been in. To be abused and assaulted. Pregnant and desperate to escape. Ultimately, carrying the baby of one of her rapists.
What Red’s mother did to her own daughter was the whole reason Sig found his ol’ lady. It was also the reason the tension between the Fury and the Guardians of Freedom began.
As well as the whole reason Levi was brought into this world. Before Jet hooked up with Rook, that baby was the only connection between the Fury and the Brysons.
“Can tell you the Shadows prefer that the women and children be cleared from the mountain before they come up,” Judge said.
“And how the fuck’s that gonna happen? We have a fuckin’ party for them and invite their breeders and snot monkeys?” Dutch grumped. “Maybe we can invite all those dumb motherfuckers to Cassie’s baby shower.” The old man shook his head and tugged on his bushy salt-and-pepper beard.
In truth, he only said out loud what the rest of them were thinking. How the fuck did they remove the women and children without instantly getting into a war with the Shirleys or putting those fuckers on notice that something was about to go down?
“Even if we can get them off the mountain, what the fuck we doin’ with them?” Rook bitched. “They ain’t fuckin’ stray cats we can drop off at the shelter.”
“Workin’ on a plan. Had Castle do a count the last time he was up there, which was two nights ago. Right now there are more men up there than women and kids,” Trip announced.
“But that can change quickly with the way they’re movin’ on rebuildin’,” Dodge spoke up. “We don’t got anyone sittin’ on that mountain twenty-four-seven. They can be bringin’ in more vans full of women and children than just the one that brought in Red’s mother.”
The Shirleys were out to rebuild their mountain clan the same way Trip had worked on rebuilding the Fury. Of course, without the incest.
“Grabbin’ those fuckin’ kids,” Sig muttered.
“Sig,” Trip barked in a warning tone.
“What kids?” Ozzy asked with his thick brows pulled together.
Whip wanted to know, as well.
“Red’s siblin’s.”
Oh fuck.
Hell, he guessed something had to be done with them if the VP planned on taking out their parents. They’d end up orphans and, like it or not, they were Red’s blood.
Did Sig want to take them? That couldn’t be fucking right. But then, the man wasn’t quite in his right mind.
Red dealt with severe PTSD from her ordeal up on that mountain, could she even deal with raising three young kids at this point? They might be constant reminders of how her own mother betrayed her.
“And what the fuck you gonna do with them?” Trip yelled, beginning to unravel. The stress of coordinating this whole thing, plus doing his best to keep everyone safe, along with having a newborn, had to be wearing on him. His temper was touchy on a good day. When he was overwhelmed and exhausted, it flared much more quickly.
Stella was usually his calming force. However, she wasn’t anywhere within reach right now.
“Not subject them to being raised by fuckin’ inbred goat fuckers. She don’t want them growin’ up thinkin’ fuckin’ their sisters, cousins or anythin’ else is goddamn normal. The point of that fuckin’ clan is to procreate, they just don’t give a fuck who it’s with. She can’t fuckin’ sleep knowin’ they’re up on that mountain. And if she can’t sleep, I can’t fuckin’ sleep.” He squared off with his own brother. “We’re grabbin’ those kids. Whatever we do with the rest of them, don’t give a fuck, but those kids I do.”
“Again, what the fuck are you gonna do with three kids under five?” Judge asked, dragging a hand down his long beard.
“Same as you and Daisy. Same as Jemma and Dyna. Same as Shade with Maddie and Josie or Chelle with Jude. Cassie with Ry. Dodge with Maya. Fuckin’ raise them like they’re our own. Bring them into the Fury family and make them ours.” Sig with his fingers curled tightly into fists, those fists pressed to the sides of his thighs, turned his attention back to Trip. “Brother, you constantly spout about how family’s family, no matter what. We’re holdin’ you to that. You spout off about how it ‘takes a fuckin’ village.’ Red and I both belong to that fuckin’ village. We’re takin’ them and gonna do what we need to do. We don’t, she’ll never be able to live with herself. And I ain’t standin’ by and watchin’ that eat away at her. You get me?”
