Sunlight poured into the room as her eyes lingered over the family, the orphanage, and the future that she could see with perfect clarity. She and Carver would live together in the orphanage, caring for the children and seeing to their futures. The family would come to visit often and Rose would always request that her new mother bring with them a bundle of flowers from Dalton Park’s greenhouse. Rose would finally get the chance to make sure the vase was always filled with water. But most of all, they would be happy.
Carver caught her eye and smiled. What she saw was beautiful and exactly the life she wanted. Rose stepped back inside and shut the door.
