“Oohh... I like the sound of that. Are you going to feed me?”

“And show you my... methods.”

“I thought you already did that.”

He grinned. “That was my secret weapon. Would’ve been smarter to keep the best for last, but....”

“So what’s the rest entail?” I asked eagerly. Rob bent under the island, retrieving a bottle of Malbec. I threw my head back, laughing. “Wine, of course. Did I mention I like you?”

“Not explicitly, but I’ll take my cues from earlier,” he answered, looking me right in the eyes.

I blushed, patting the granite counter. “I’ll have a full glass, please.”

“Right away.”

He poured wine for both of us, and we clinked glasses.

“Wow, this is amazing,” I said after the first sip. I appreciated fine wine, but any would do for me, honestly. I’d gotten used to the cheap stuff in college, and it tasted good enough, so I usually grabbed what was on sale out of habit.

“It’s a Malbec from vineyards at a high altitude in Argentina. It’s heavier than the usual wine.”

I licked my lips, humming a little. “It’s just perfect. Are you trying to get me drunk and take advantage of me? Oh, wait, you already did that.”

His eyes glinted with amusement as he retrieved a platter with canapes from the fridge, placing it between us.

“Oh, you’re not cooking.” I pouted but immediately shoved two in my mouth. They were a mix of smoked salmon and ricotta, as far as I could tell. I might not be a wine connoisseur, but I’d always been a foodie.

“No, I had these delivered,” he said in between bites.

“Hmm... don’t know how I feel about that.”

He cocked a brow. “Why?”

I bought myself time by eating two more canapes, but Rob was looking at me intently.

“You look super sexy cooking. Flexing muscles when you reach for stuff, things like that.”

He burst out laughing. I looked at my glass. “What’s in this? I’ve just had two sips and my tongue is already loose.”

“Told you it’s a little stronger than the usual stuff.”

Since I was already on a slippery slope, I could also voice the rest of my thoughts.

“But since you can’t delight me with your sexy moves, maybe you can find something different?”

Rounding the corner, he came up behind me. He skimmed his thumbs up the sides of my neck. Heat speared me from the point of contact right down between my thighs. My nipples tightened. I moaned at the unexpected sensation, and Rob stepped closer, bringing his mouth to my ear.

“Or we can just do this,” he said.

“Ha! I knew it. You lured me here for more sexy times.”

He spun me around the next second, until I was face-to-face with him. His eyes were hard, his mouth set in a firm line. He pressed his thumb on the bow of my upper lip, and I was on fire. It was all I could do not to squirm in my chair.

Next thing I knew, he lifted me up. I hung tight to him with one hand and held my glass precariously in the other.

“Hey, don’t make me spill my wine.”

“You can just leave the glass there and I’ll bring it to you.”
