I don’t exactly believe in her perfect path shit, but I get what she’s saying. Because with her in my arms, and my daughter under the same roof as us, things do feel pretty damn perfect.

I dip my head slightly and press a kiss to her bare shoulder and then her neck. I drag my hand across her stomach and find the apex of her thighs. “Spread your legs for me, butterfly,” I murmur.

She does as I ask, and I push two fingers into her center, pumping in and out of her. Even in the water, I can still feel how wet she is. I use her juices to create friction on her clit. Sucking on the sensitive spot on her neck, I quickly bring her to a climax. Her entire body trembles in pleasure, her moans filling the quiet room. I love that I’m the only one who’s done this to her. Has made her happy, made her feel like she’s found that perfect path.

As she turns around and straddles my thighs, guiding her warm, wet pussy around my rock-hard dick, I capture her mouth with my own. My fingers dig into her hips, helping her ride me. As our mouths tangle, our tongues dueling with each other, my mind goes to what she said a few minutes ago about wanting to freeze time.

If I could, I would freeze this moment—me inside her, her wrapped around me. After my divorce, I couldn’t imagine ever settling down again. Giving my heart and soul to another woman. But with Georgia, I can see it all. The lazy Sundays, the family dinners, the laughs and smiles and the love. So much fucking love. And with those thoughts, I know it’s not about freezing time, but about having what we have all the time. Every day for the rest of our lives.

And I know just the way to make that happen…

“Ooh, ooh, ooh,” Hazel says, trying to mimic the noise the monkeys make. It’s Sunday and our last day together before I go back to work tomorrow morning, so Georgia suggested we take a family trip to the zoo. Which gave me an idea…

“That’s right,” Georgia says, kneeling next to Hazel. “Can you say monkey?”

“Key-key,” Hazel says, butchering the hell out of the word before she pushes off the fence and toddles down the sidewalk toward the next exhibit.

Georgia runs after her, scooping her up and peppering kisses all over her face.

“I love seeing Georgia so happy,” Charlie whispers to me. “Thank you.”

After Georgia mentioned the zoo, and an idea formed, I invited her family to join us, as well as my mom. I also invited Mason and Mila and Alec’s sister since they’re considered family. I wanted to invite Kaden and Ashley, Georgia’s grandparents, but they’re already in Breckenridge for the holidays, along with Tristan’s younger sisters, Emma and Morgan, and their families. We’ll be joining them next week for Christmas. Micaela, her cousin and best friend, is also here with her husband Ryan, and their two kids.

“You don’t have to thank me,” I tell Charlie, watching Hazel throw her head back in a laugh as Georgia lifts her up and moves her kisses to her belly, tickling her. “I’m the lucky one.”

We go from exhibit to exhibit, then stop for lunch, before continuing on. The entire time, I’m half here, half in my own mind. I have a plan, but the closer I get to it, the more nervous I get. What if it’s too soon? What if she thinks I’m crazy? What if we end up like my last marriage?

But the second we step foot into the butterfly exhibit and Georgia beams at me, with my daughter in her arms, as hundreds, if not thousands of butterflies flutter around us, I know I have nothing to be nervous or scared about. Because this is Georgia, and everything about her and us is different.

I glance at Lexi and our eyes meet. I nod slightly, so she understands, and her face breaks into a knowing grin.

“This is so beautiful,” Georgia says, spinning Hazel in a circle as the butterflies fly all around us. “Hazel, do you see the butterflies?”

“Bu-fy!” Hazel squeals, trying and failing to capture one.

“Yes, butterfly,” Georgia says, kissing her on the cheek.

I watch my two girls interact, until Georgia glances over at me and smiles oddly. “You okay?”

Her question snaps me out of my trance, reminding me what I’m about to do. “I’m prefect,” I tell her, stepping closer. I give Hazel a kiss on her cheek, then turn my attention back to Georgia. “These last couple months with you and my daughter have been the best of my life.”

Her lips curl into a smile that has the ability to light up the darkest of rooms.

“Remember when you said you wanted to freeze this moment in time because you’re so happy? I felt that deep, because every moment I spend with you and Hazel are moments I want to freeze.”
