“Wow, your folks don’t play huh.”
“Nope! Let that be a lesson to you. Just kidding, we’ll be fine. Our marriage is ours. I can promise you they’ll only get involved if you turn into a wife beating asshole. Everything else is ours to deal with.” For some reason I believed her.
Life went back to normal for the next couple of weeks, except for all the wedding talk and my mother being in my house way more often than she’s used to.
School was coming to an end soon and there was talk about all of us heading out east for a visit to see where the wedding and reception was going to be held.
My kids were happier and livelier than I’d seen them in months and my ex, well, I didn’t hardly see her. Even when I went to pick up the kids she stayed hidden for some reason.
I was sitting on the side of my bed pulling on my shit kickers, getting ready to leave out for the shop when Olivia came and stood in the door between the bedroom and bathroom.
“We’ve got a problem.”
“What is it? Is the sink busted again?” She walked over to me waving something in her hand. “Nope this.”
I knew as soon as she showed it to me that it was a pregnancy test. “How…” I wasn’t sure how I felt for the first second or two, but it wasn’t long before that happy jumpy feeling hit my gut.
“I thought you were on the pill?” I pulled her down on my lap because she looked like she was about to cry.
“I know, I’m sorry. Apparently the antibiotics I took while I was sick a few weeks ago messed with them and this is the result. I promise you I didn’t do this on purpose.”
“Hey, what’re you talking about? I never thought that, come ‘ere.” I pulled her in closer and wrapped my arms around her, letting her know that my mind hadn’t even gone there.
“Are you upset?” I didn’t even have to think about that shit.
“About having a little girl or boy that looks like you? What do you think?”
“But what are we gonna do? There’s no more space.”
“We can build on another room…”
‘That’ll work for the short term but I should warn you, I plan on having a lot of kids.” That shit made my dick hard.
“When you say a lot, how many are you thinking?” She shrugged her shoulders and then hit me with a whammy.
“I don’t know, maybe five or six.”
“Fuck baby. That’ll run us into seven or eight.”
“Yep, so…”
“Well, let me think about it. I mean, I’ve always thought I’d leave this one to Jason when the time comes so I definitely don’t want to sell. I guess we can rent it out.”
“Well then! I guess we have to go house shopping. And please, please, don’t get money involved. We…” She pointed to me, and then herself. “Have enough to afford something big and wonderful that would hold all of us.
That something wonderful turned out to be an eight-bedroom monstrosity in the best neighborhood in the county. I didn’t even know they built those shits here.
The kids went nuts when they saw it, and why wouldn’t they? The shit had a swimming pool and a backyard that was about four times the size of mine, or more.
I had a little tug of something when she talked me into opening a joint account where her numbers far outreached mine, but she was so blasé about the whole thing it didn’t last long.
I insisted on making the down payment, but that was before her father, who insisted that it be his and his wife’s wedding gift to us, overruled me.
Because it was in a small town the price tag was a little less than a million, but I knew the same thing anywhere else would’ve been five times that. She didn’t blink an eye at accepting and I guess I had to learn to take my cues from her on that shit.
I was more than a little surprised though when my name was first on the deed. “It’s a gift Rich, don’t overthink it.” Easy for her to say. But I learned as time went on that they were nothing like what I dealt with in the past.
We christened the new house, her and I, the day of the signing in our own special way. On the marble floor of the foyer because that’s as far as we got before the excitement became too much.
“Babe, I can’t fuck you on the floor anymore, the baby…” She wrapped her legs and arms around me and stroked my cock between us before leading it to her snatch.
“He’ll be fine, just do me.” I was careful with her no matter what she said. I kept my arms beneath her, keeping her back off the cold hard floor as I surged into her.
