“Of course you are,” she grumbles.

“What does that mean?” I ask, amused.

“You have two sides to you.”

“Are you calling me two-faced?” I reply, eyebrows rising.

“Yes. And you’re a twin. It all makes sense.”

I laugh. “Are Aquarius and Gemini a match?”

She nods slowly. “Yes, they are.”

We both go quiet for a few seconds. “Thanks for coming today, and for driving,” she finally says.

“Anytime.”

She smiles and looks out the window.

Chapter Seven

Natalie

I’m aware of how comfortable I feel with Atlas in the car. Even the silence is comfortable, and I don’t think he knows how much I appreciate that. He doesn’t keep talking, so I can hear myself think, and I feel safe. I saw him tonight, and how friendly and welcoming he is to everyone he meets. People like him. He just has something about him that makes you want to open up and tell him everything.

“Why did you offer to drive me?” I decide to ask him.

If he’s surprised by my bluntness, he doesn’t show it. “Your sister asked me that tonight, and to be honest, I don’t know. I said it’s for the bike, but I guess I just wanted to spend some time with you.”

“Because you want to fuck me?” I ask bluntly.

He licks his lips. “Way to put a man on the spot.”

“Answer the question,” I demand.

“I mean, I wouldn’t say no,” he says with a wolfish smile.

I purse my lips. “I’m sure you wouldn’t say no to most women. That’s a lot of effort you’re putting in if that’s all you want. Not to mention that you haven’t actually physically made any advances at me. In fact, you’ve been nothing but rude to me. Is this one of those ‘treat them mean, keep them keen’ type of things? Because it’s not working.”

He sighs. “Why do we have to analyze everything? Whatever happens will happen naturally, whether that be us being friends, enemies or otherwise.”

I can agree with that to some extent. “You are friends with my family, so let’s just do the same. Let’s be friends, and not make this awkward.”

“Okay, how about we talk about something else? I was watching you ride. You’re obviously very confident on a motorcycle.”

“Yeah, I got my license as soon as I could,” I tell him. “My dad had no sons, and Cara wasn’t interested in learning how to ride; she was happy being on the back of a bike.”

“But not you?”

I smile at him. “I never planned on being on the back of any bike, so I learned to ride my own damn bike.”

He laughs, and it’s a deep, melodic sound. It makes me want to laugh with him. “I like that, but I’m never riding on the back of your bike.”

“I didn’t think you would,” I reply, amused. “What led you to join the Knights?”

I watch his hands on the steering wheel. I’ve heard women say how sexy it is when men steer in a certain way, one hand resting on the top, but I’ve never understood what they meant until right now.

“Ummm. I guess Aries and I were kind of lost, and heading down the wrong path. We’ve always loved motorcycles, and we already rode. One night we met the MC and Temper at a bar. They ended up getting into a fight, and we had their backs. They welcomed us, and we found the family we’d always wanted. They are good men, and they are loyal. I’d do anything for any of them.”
