“Thank you, Sarah.” I kissed her nose, and it was cold. “I’m glad you told me.”

She tilted her head, staring at me as if trying to get into my head. Like she didn’t trust my words. Then again, I couldn’t blame her. How many times had she been lied to? Hurt? Tortured? Abused?

I vowed it right then and there. I would give her “normal.” Dating. Relationship. Fun things that couples did. Hell, I’d hand my man card over to Hunter right now if he were here, because I was about to get all up with the sappy when it came to Sarah.

After the nightmares she’d experienced, she needed a fairy tale, and I intended to give that to her.

Chapter Thirty-Two

Sarah

Apoundingonthedoor sent Lizzie and me to our feet, and I almost peed my pants!

“Sarah!” Angelina yelled from the other side of the door. “Turn on the radio.”

Lizzie ran to the door and pulled it open. “Son of abeeotch, Angelina, you ’bout gave me a heart attack.”

Angelina burst through the doorway and ran to the tiny clock radio on the kitchen counter. “Check this out. Check this out!”

I tossed my iPad on the couch and joined the crazy girl as Lizzie grinned, her cheeks pinking. “What’s going on?” I suddenly had a distinct feeling they were up to something.

Static sounded as Angelina shifted through the stations. Who even used radios anymore? “I tell you. I never would have thought he’d do something like this. It’s….awesome!” Angelina squealed.

“Someone better start talking really soon,” I said, leaning against the bar that hemmed in the massive kitchen. Angelina’s “guesthouse” was freaking amazing, and I was getting way too comfortable spending so much time here.

But it was good for Lizzie. She’d finally made it onto that plane…after four attempts…and didn’t like being alone.

And it seemed only Angelina and I could tolerate her obsessive-compulsive tendencies. Right now, by the way her lips were moving, I could tell she was counting.

By threes.

That was her thing.

A voice screeched through the tiny speakers, and I thought they’d crack or something. “Whoa!” Angelina turned the volume down.

“What is happening?” Lizzie turned the barstool three quarter turns then sat down.

Hmmm, so she wasn’t in on this?

Angelina turned, a smile filling her face. “Just listen. It’s—”

“And to Sarah Sugar Baby, this song is for you,” the male voice said.

I froze, my fingers going instantly to my throat.

“I’ll stand on this mountain with you forever!”

I’ll be your dream

I’ll be your wish. I’ll be your fantasy.

“Oh I know this one!” Angelina jumped up and down. “‘Truly Madly Deeply!’”

“Hush!” Lizzie squealed.

I want to stand with you on a mountain.

I want to bathe with you in the sea
