“It’s been a busy two months, plus what happened last night.” Eli paused and gently took his hand, interlocking their fingers. “Do you recall much?”

“Yes, even though it all seems like something in one of Dax’s movies. One thing’s for sure, I’m going to wear those boots more often. And maybe look into a martial arts class. Iwas scared but strangely empowered when I kicked that asshole Vicks.”

“You were amazing,” Eli replied, but he looked worried.

“What is it? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I … I just don’t know if you remember everything from last night. When we got back here, we said some pretty important things to each other.”

Billie turned on his side and took Eli’s face in his hands, rubbing his soft beard and then tracing a finger over his perfect lips.

“I told you I love you. And I meant every word. I never knew love could feel like this. Like I can’t breathe without you. Like I’m finally home,” he murmured, and Eli’s eyes welled up. Billie’s chest tightened at the sight of his sweet, sensitive Eli. So strong and yet so gentle and kind. He leaned forward and placed a kiss on Eli’s lips, and callused hands slid up his back, urging him closer.

“I love you, too, sweetheart, so much,” Eli said as he peppered his neck with hot kisses.

“Frankie was right.”

“How so?”

“He told me I needed to get under a hot bodyguard. Specifically, you.”

Eli rolled him over and gave him a claiming kiss. “Good advice.”

“No.”

“No?”

“The best advice.”

“You better fucking believe it.”
