My wolf mumbled inside me. I was fighting my beast and the need to claim her.

She was here. And fuck, she seemed willing. I glanced over my shoulder again. Her long legs were all I could see.

One more deep breath. I could do this. I could take care of her and I could be the male she needed.

I grabbed the first aid kit, something rarely used but you just never knew. A towel was still folded by the washbasin, I grabbed that and a jug of water. I wasn’t lying when I said this place was kept pretty bare minimum, but with new technology I kept our lands monitored better and at least kept every wolf on our lands safer. My retreat wasn’t an exception.

“Alright. Let me see that arm.”

I turned around and prayed my cock would listen and settle down. As I approached the bed I tried not to breathe in her scent. What could I even think of to get this thing down. If I inhaled her too much, I wasn’t going to be the upstanding wolf or man that I thought I could be for her.

She giggled, and I froze.

“What?”

The smile on her face, the way her eyes lit up. There was a hint of the female I’d met all those years ago. It was enough to bring me to reality.

“Let me see your arm.”

She rolled to her side and held her arm to me.

“How is the pain?”

The water was chilly as it ran over my hand and down my thigh as I soaked the rag to clean her up.

“It’s not as bad as it was,” she answered as I blotted and rubbed at the dark rivers.

“The bleeding appears to have stopped. That’s a good sign. Where is your wolf now? She must be closer to the surface, awake at least, but these wounds still haven’t started healing. Not well anyway.”

Kiara didn’t speak, and I didn’t know what she would say, anyway.

I pulled out gauze and disinfectant.

“I know you were only joking, but perhaps we should find a way to bring her out more?”

My eyes met hers as she finished that last word.

“I wasn’t joking,” was all I could manage.

My cock was already thinking of all the ways I could coax out her beautiful wolf. My wolf was already thinking how many of those ways would end up with him marking her, and the male in me was struggling to remember why we shouldn’t.

“Here,” I said. Handing her the towel now soaked in whatever the shit was that burned like hell any time Sarah was pissed at me for getting hurt. Infection was damn near impossible, but she used these tools against me and many of my fellow pack mates.

“I’m sorry,” I said. “It’s going to sting.”

She winced as the towel touched the deep gashes on her arm, and I flinched. “I’m really sorry. I don’t exactly know how to handle this. Normally healing kicks in unless it’s serious.”

“It’s fine. I’ve had worse. The girls and I were usually lucky if we got disinfectant, but at the same time they wanted us alive and healthy. So sometimes we did.”

The skirt of her dress had ridden up, not that the tears were hiding much.

“These? All from that alpha?”

She shrugged at me and it was like a fan to my already festering anger.

“Answer me Kiara.”

She didn’t wince or look away, she just met my gaze face on.
