His chest rose and fell as he took in a deep, steady breath. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this.”

I reached for the headboard, gripping the top with both hands. “Hopefully it’s worth the wait.”

“It already has been.” He pushed himself into a seated position and clamped his hands to my hips.

My legs stretched around his back, and I eased myself off his cock slowly. When I’d almost eased all the way off, he pulled me back onto his lap and thrusted inside me.

We kept to that rhythm, repeating that movement over and over again until my eyes rolled back, and I gave myself over to the man who’d always held my heart.

“I love you, Devyn. Always have.” He wrapped his arms around me and held me so tight against his chest that I couldn’t move. I didn’t want to move anyway. I was exactly where I wanted to be.

“I love you, too.” Any apprehension I had about giving myself to Henry faded away. Nothing could keep me away from him now.

HENRY

Iwoke up to the most beautiful sight. Devyn sprawled across my chest, one leg thrown over my hips, pinning me in place. Her warm breath drifted across my collarbone with every exhale. I was happy. The kind of happy I’d never felt before, and it was all because of her.

Her hair had fallen free from the tie she’d pulled it back with overnight. In the soft morning light, she looked too perfect to be real. The way my muscles ached proved what happened last night was no dream. We’d finally found our way back to each other, finally given in to the heat that had been there all along. I just hoped I didn’t do something to fuck it up.

She cracked open an eyelid and stared up at me.

“Good morning, beautiful.” I ran my hand over her hair. She’d always worn it long, and I’d always been tempted to see if it was as soft and silky as it looked.

A sweet, shy smile spread over her lips. “Good morning. Have you been up for very long?”

“Nah, just long enough to know this will be my favorite part of the day.”

“How can you know that already? The day’s barely even started.”

“Because I’m with you.” I lifted my head and pressed a kiss to her hairline.

“You’d better lay off the sweet talk.”

“Why’s that?”

“Because if you keep it up, I might not be able to resist you.” She tucked her hands under her chin and gazed up at me with a look I never thought I’d see in her eyes… love.

Fuck. This woman could ruin me if I let her. A deep sigh escaped past my lips. Who was I kidding? After one night together, she already had.

“What was that about?” Devyn shifted next to me, sliding up my side until her head was even with mine on the pillow.

“What?”

Her palm cupped my cheek. “That sigh. Sounds like you’ve got the weight of the world pressing down on you.”

I didn’t want to give a voice to my fears. We needed to talk about Duke, but I was hesitant to start a conversation. I hadn’t stood up to him before, and I wouldn’t make that mistake again. Not now that I knew Devyn had feelings for me.

“Where do you see this headed?” I’d start there and see where she took the conversation.

“You mean us?”

“Yeah, us.” I liked hearing that word come from her lips. No doubt about it, we were an “us” now.

She slipped one hand out from under her chin and traced a line between my pecs. “I suppose we ought to talk about it since you declared your undying love for me last night.”

This woman… she could always draw a smile from me. “Undying, huh? I don’t remember using that exact phrase.”
