“Sorry it took me so long to get ready.” Tory stopped next to him and put her hands on the railing. “I had trouble deciding what to wear.”
Duncan wouldn't be the only one at the restaurant who couldn't take his eyes off her tonight. “You look fantastic.”
“Thanks. You clean up pretty well yourself.” Smiling, she nudged his arm with her elbow. “Before I came down, I emailed you Ivy's updated itinerary for the week. I haven't looked at it yet, because I know she'll review it tonight. If we still have some free time in the morning, do you want to walk over to the fort again with me after breakfast?”
The sign on the gate had stated it would be open tomorrow and Thursday from nine until two. Then, on Wednesday and Friday, it was open from twelve to five.
“Sounds good to me. Then, if we have time on Wednesday, we can drive over to El Morro.”
“I'll have to double-check Ivy's schedule. I think the guys are going golfing on Wednesday, and the women are having a spa day, or maybe that was Friday. I know golfing was on there somewhere.”
“We're not doing everything as a group?”
“Nope. Sorry, I thought I mentioned that. But don't worry, you'll get along fine with everyone except possibly Grant.”
Gee, I wonder why?“I'll survive.”
“If you're ready, we should go.”
“I'm all set, but you don't sound it.”
Sighing, Tory tilted her head back, exposing her neck, and he envisioned himself leaving a trail of kisses from her collarbone and to her lips. Once he learned the taste of her, he'd reverse his path.
“After traveling, I like to relax. And if we were here for a vacation, I'd suggest we get room service and eat it out here. And then maybe go for a walk on the beach.”
Before he did something he shouldn't, Duncan forced the image away. Even if she was receptive to turning their fake relationship into a real one, something he sometimes sensed she was, now wasn't the time. Her friends expected them for dinner.
“I get it.”
The plane ride had only been about four hours. But there was more to traveling than just the plane ride; if you took all of it into account, they'd spent much of their day getting here.
“Room service is out tonight, but we can go for a walk on the beach after dinner if you want.”
Lowering her head, Tory looked at him and smiled before stepping away from the railing. “I think I would.”
Unlike earlier when they'd shared part of the elevator ride down with newlyweds who couldn't keep their hands off each other, Duncan and Tory thankfully had the elevator to themselves this time. Duncan had no problem with public displays of affection, but those two had taken it to a whole other level.
Tory slipped her hand into his as the elevator doors opened, and in response, his heart skipped a beat. “Showtime,” she whispered, her voice just loud enough for him to hear her.
A woman holding hands with a tall blond built like a football player smiled and waved when she stepped out of the elevator next to theirs. “Tory, I thought you'd come and join us at the pool.” But unlike when they ran into Ivy, this woman didn't throw her arms around Tory.
“Duncan and I wanted to explore a little. So we went to the garden and then looked into booking either scuba lessons or snorkeling,” she said before introducing him to Carrie and her husband, Drake.
“Well, we'll have to catch up later. I feel like I haven't seen you in ages. I can't believe my baby brother is getting married,” Carrie said as the two couples walked through the hotel lobby.
“Don't let Preston hear you say that. He hates it when you call him your baby brother,” Tory said.
“Why do you think I say it? I'm five minutes older than Preston, Duncan,” Carrie explained.
“And she never lets him forget it,” Tory added.
“He would do the same to me if he'd been born first.”
Duncan didn't know where everything on Ivy's itinerary was taking place, but at least dinner was at the resort. Tory and Carrie were still discussing Preston when they arrived at Baudin's Steak House, a well-known, upscale restaurant with locations in major US cities and large resorts like this one.
“We're part of the Nelson/Turner party,” Tory told the restaurant employee once they walked inside the restaurant.
“Most of your party has already been seated. Please follow me.”
