“Your best friend is impossible,” I said, pulling out my phone to mute another one of Lucy’s calls.

“You should answer that. She’s not one to give up.” Quinn said, inspecting the ring on her finger.

I hit accept on the cell and put the call on speaker.

CHAPTERELEVEN

QUINN

“What?”Weston answered Lucy’s call as if she had just interrupted one of the best moments of his life.

“Don’t what me!” Lucy shot back. “I need answers. Quinn’s phone seems to be dead. And you’ve been ignoring my calls all day. Talk, brother.”

Weston sighed. It was now or never.

“I’m pregnant,” I said into the speaker without giving him a chance to say anything.

He furrowed his brows and mouthed to me, ‘what are you doing?’

Lucy gasped and then said, “Quinn! Is that you? I fucking knew something was going on between you two! OH MY GOD! You have a lot of explaining to do. Holy shit! Who else knows?”

We heard Drayven’s voice in the background.

“Quinn’s pregnant,” Lucy informed him.

“What?” Drayven said in disbelief.

I guess Weston hadn’t told his guys yet the full details of our arrangement.

Weston finally spoke up. “Well, don’t go telling everyone, Lu. Nobody else knows.”

“We’re eloping and making the announcement this week. That way we can go back to planning your special day,” I told her.

Lucy was speechless for a long minute on the other end.

“I’m going to be a mother and an aunt in the same year! And my best friend is my sister-in-law. Eeeek.” She squealed in excitement. “Wait, have you guys been secretly dating this whole time?”

“We’ve been on and off,” said Weston smirking at me.

“You sneaks!” She laughed. “Okay, okay. Obviously, I’m not the only crazy romantic in this family.”

“Yeah, yeah,” said Weston rubbing the back of his neck. “Romance…and shit.”

He wasn’t always this way. He looked like a smitten teenaged boy. Something definitely changed in him over the last few years.

“I need to hear all about it when I get back, you crazy lovebirds. Father and mother are losing their marbles over here. But, way to drop a bomb and run away. You’re my new favorite couple.”

“Just trying to keep things interesting for them,” said Weston with a cynical grin. “We’ll talk when you get back. Night, Lu. Night, Dray.”

“Okay, fine. See you soon, brother and sister-in-law,” Lucy singsonged.

Weston ended the call and put the phone back in his pocket. He was still kneeling in front of me.

“Well, you sure have a way with breaking news. I thought Lucy was going to be in the know?” he asked. “What changed?”

“She’s pregnant, Weston. Who knows what our arrangement will do to her. I’d rather just cross that bridge when we get there.”

I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if anything happened to Lucy or her baby because she tried to keep a secret for us. The stress would be overwhelming to her body. I needed her to be happy.
