“Have we ever had it before?” she asked.
“I don’t think so.” Jace put the spoon down. “Come here, baby.”
She walked into his arms and sighed. There was no place she’d rather be than her men’s arms.
Jace kissed the side of her head. “I love you so much, baby, and I always will. Remember that when you get insecure. Please come to one of us if you have questions instead of running.”
“I just got scared.”
“I know. We’re sorry we scared you.”
“I’m fine now, and I’m sorry I worried you.”
“I know. Grabbed some plates for me.”
When she turned around with the plates in her arms, she watched the men and how they teased each other and smiled. This was her family. She had to say it over and over again in her head because sometimes she forgot. But she never would again.
Chapter Fifteen
Mack grabbed the file he needed and then headed out of his office. He cursed when he remembered Jace was already out, but Mack had a meeting that was too important.
He walked into Kaylin’s office/playroom and saw her working on her words at the desk. He was so damn proud of her. Since she’d been taking lessons from a tutor specializing in dyslexia, she worked on it as much as possible. He knew it stemmed from the fact she didn’t think she’d ever be able to read and write. Although it was still difficult and would always be a challenge, she never gave up and kept improving.
“Hey, babe. I have a meeting I can’t get out of, and Jace is still out with his. He should be here soon. Is it okay to leave you alone?”
“Yeah, I have those girls coming in a few minutes.”
He relaxed. “Okay, good.” He bent and kissed her lips. “I’ll see you soon.”
“I love you, Daddy.”
He smiled. “I love you, too.”

Kaylin waved one more time and then started working on her letters again. A few minutes later, she heard the doors open and close but nothing else. She would have heard them if it had been the girls because they never shut up, and her daddy would have called out for her.
She walked to the doorway and looked out to see a man in black jeans and a black t-shirt.
“May I help you?”
He whirled her way and looked her up and down in a way that made her feel creepy.
“He said you were hot. Mouthy but hot.”
“Who?” she asked.
“A special friend of ours wants to meet you and talk.”
“I’ll have to ask my dad … men.”
“It won’t be long. It’s just down the street in a café.”
She shook her head. “No. Not until my guys know.”
“Listen, you little bitch, I wanted to do this the easy way, but we can do it hard, too.” He started toward her, and she froze in fear.
The outer door opened, and five of her friends walked in. The smiles on their faces dropped as they stared at the guy.
