Me: How about you come to Kane’s house? It’s a legit mansion and he has the entire third floor to himself. Bring West and whoever else you want. The guys can entertain each other while we talk.
Ashtyn: Perfect! Thursday around 5:00?
Me: Sounds good, I’ll make sure to get some food and drinks :)
She sent a chain of smiley emojis that settled a few of my nerves. Look at me, making plans with people who I wasn’t bound to bywork.
Slightly weird that it was Kane’s cousin’s girlfriend, but whatever.
Kane. Fuck, I wasn’t ready to unpack everything with that situation. His giant hands taking me, spearing me with his massive cock, his hips thrusting me like he was on amission. I had taken to ignoring him and his growth at school, which wasn’t as easy as it sounded. The anger and jealousy that festered under my skin made it a tad easier.
Which reminded me, they still weren’t home, and it was after midnight.
I spun my thumb ring as I watched yet another cooking tutorial on Tik Tok, because for some fucking reason, the person who couldn’t cook for shit liked to watch other people do it. I was engrossed in a time lapse of a tasty looking casserole when the door flew open and boots stomped up the steps.
“Oh my fucking god. What happened?”
Kane walked in followed by Dominic and Xavier. All of them had blood on their faces and knuckles.
“There was a scuffle,” Kane said.
“Yeah, all in good fun,” Dominic smiled, an evil glint in his eyes.
I hope he didn’t kill anyone…
My brother was a little on the crazy side.
All three guys passed me and went to the fridge to get beer. I stood there in shock but also relieved that they didn’t appear to have any bullet holes.
Kane pulled a few ice packs from the freezer and tossed one to my brother and one to X.
“Anyone gonna explain? I thought you were getting guns. You’ve been gone for…” I checked my phone. “Seven hours.”
“The guns went great. Bash didn’t mention anything about Marco,” Kane said as he twisted the cap off his beer. “Quentin brought the guns back. We met a few of West’s friends at a bar in Gilchrist Point to celebrate. Everything was going fine until the bikers showed up.”
“You got in a fight withbikers? Over what?” I hopped up on the counter and crossed my arms over my chest.
“Well…West knew a couple of them. The Savage Sinners–the club that his girl’s dad and brother are in,” Kane explained. “Anyway, they were in town because they’re doing a big renovation project on Ashtyn’s house.”
“And how does that lead to a fight…”
“You’ve heard the rumors about the Sinners being responsible for Bobby’s accident,” Kane stated.
Yes, I had. I also thought it didn’t make any fucking sense. Why would the Sinners start a war with us when they were outnumbered and outgunned?
“Don’t forget about the guy Lauren was fucking for a while.Gabe–can you believe she was screwing the VP of the Sinners?“ X asked.
“Wow,” I said flatly.
“He’s a total asshole. He comes around The Court occasionally. Anyway…” Xavier began. “There were words exchanged, shit talking done on both sides. Plus there was alotof whiskey involved–them, not us. We only had a few beers.”
“Sounds eventful,” I mused as I pushed back a cuticle with my nail.
Kane laughed. “It was a mess because West was on our sideobviously, but he didn’t want to beat up his friends. And then some of the MC guys didn’t want to hit us because of what we did for Ashtyn.”
“Was her brother there?”
“Yeah, why?” Kane narrowed his eyes.
