That was all it took. They both pressed forward and came hard. Reid’s mouth was slightly ajar as he groaned and held himself at the back of my throat, spilling his seed. I swallowed, not wanting to lose a single drop. I could feel Heath throbbing as he shot hot streams of his release inside of me.

Pulling me back while staying inside of me, Heath brought me to his chest while Reid came forward to take my mouth. Heath was kissing my neck as he spoke to Reid. “Take our sweet girl to bed. After that performance, I think she deserved a couple more orgasms. Tie her down if you have to. I would like to see how many times we can make her come before she begs us to stop.” I could feel his grin against my neck.

I hissed between clenched teeth as he nipped me, and Reid started touching my slick folds again. “I thought Reid was the bossy one?” I asked breathlessly.

Heath chuckled, his chest jostling me. “Oh, sweetheart, you have no idea.”

Chapter Seventeen

“Are you about ready to go, Kate?” Samantha asked from her office door. I nodded as I jotted down a few more notes. I wanted to be fully prepared for my first meeting with Emily. I had this nervous energy about me all morning. I’d woken up anxious to get my day started.

The boys had opted to stay in bed this morning without me. Heath didn’t have to be in today, but Reid had the late shift. They’d tried to keep me in bed by pinning me down and taking turns kissing me. Both of their hands traveled south to do wicked things to my body. It took all of my willpower to push away from them and take my happy ass to the shower with a saucy smile on my face.

On a normal day, I would’ve loved to have stayed in bed with them and just spent the day finding bliss in one another’s bodies. Not today though. Today was the day I advanced, not only in my career but in my life. To most people, this lunch meeting wasn’t a big deal, but for me, it was an opportunity to seize something for myself.

Samantha had told me I could ask Emily any questions I wanted to, and I intended to use that to my advantage. I wanted to know what made her want to start writing. If it wasn’t too much, I wanted to ask her thoughts on some plots I had bouncing around in my head. I didn’t know any authors personally, so I definitely didn’t want to squander this opportunity.

Twenty minutes later, we were pulling in front of the Italian restaurant I had made our reservations at. I got out of the car with the promise to get our table and start setting up while Samantha went to find a parking spot.

The hostess showed me to our table, and I ordered three glasses of water and some bread to start. When Samantha joined me a few minutes later, the table was set and I had laid out the notes we wanted to cover for this meeting.

I could feel my phone vibrating in my purse, but I ignored it. I didn’t want to be unprofessional by texting when Emily got here. We had gotten to the restaurant ten minutes before we agreed to meet, but I didn’t want to take the chance.

It wasn’t too much longer, and we saw the hostess bringing someone to our table. We both stood as Emily approached with a warm smile on her face. She looked to be just a little younger than me, I would say no older than thirty-two. She had a head full of blonde curls and a lot of orange in her hazel eyes. The light sprinkling of freckles that ran across her nose told me she was a minimal makeup gal like myself. She wore a pair of jeans with strappy wedge heels and a white blouse with flowers on the scoop collar and flowy sleeves.

Samantha reached forward and extended her manicured hand out to greet her. “I’m so glad we could find time to meet up, Emily. Kate and I have read both of your manuscripts. I think I speak for us both when I say they’re amazing.”

Emily flushed as she shook my boss’s hand.

She looked at me as I held my hand out next for her to shake. “It’s such a pleasure meeting you. I have to say, I feel like I know you already just from reading your work,” I said with a bright smile.

Emily released my hand, and we all took our seats. “Well, you certainly know how to make a girl feel special.” She spoke with a nervous laugh.

Samantha chuckled. “Well, we know when to give credit when credit is due.”

The waiter came shortly after. We all ordered our food, and Samantha ordered a bottle of wine for the table. We made small talk while we got to know Emily. She was a very interesting person. It struck me as odd how many similarities we shared. She was also recently divorced and moved for a fresh start.

“I started writing when I was in my twenties. I wasn’t happy in my marriage, and I used it as an escape from reality. I never would have thought that I would be good enough to get published.” She was very animated when she spoke.

“I always wanted kids and my husband never did. I was really unhappy for a long time. When I finally got the guts to ask for a divorce, that’s when I decided it was time for me to try. I had already written five manuscripts while I was still married. The two that I submitted to you were what I thought were my best ones,” she said with a hopeful smile.

She was looking at me now. “So, what about you? You have the look of someone with a story to tell.”

I flushed and took a sip of my water. Was it written all over my face? I told her about my failed marriage and everything in between. When I finished, I expected the same pity in her eyes that everyone else seemed to get.

To my surprise, she was smiling. “Well, it might not have felt like it, but what you went through was probably a blessing. Not everyone gets a second chance to build a life that they truly want.”

I hadn’t thought of it that way. Emily was either wiser than her years or a true optimist. She looked at me over her wine glass now. “So, what are you doing with this second chance you have been given, Kate? What new adventure gets you excited to get up in the morning?”

I smiled and thought of the men I left in my bed that morning. Those two were helping me break out of my shell more than they would ever know.

The sad reality was I hadn’t been happy when I first moved here. I was heartbroken and beaten down. There was a reason I had lived next to them for a month before I had even known I had neighbors. I had been so consumed by my self-pity, I hadn’t even left my apartment. I hadn’t wanted to explore the new city I was calling home until after they’d entered my life.

Jill had begged me for weeks to come out with her to celebrate my divorce. I’d blown her off until she showed up that night and all but dragged me to that bar. That was the night I met Heath and my world changed for the better.

To the outside world, it might look like the only thing those men did for me was give me amazing sex. But for me, it was so much more than that. They were showing me how to expect more from myself. I was learning to love myself for who I was. I wasn’t even as self-conscious as I used to be.

They expressed quite frequently how beautiful and perfect I was, and I found myself believing them more and more with each passing day. I didn’t even start writing again until I had met them.
