“I want to touch every inch of you, Hadley. Learn what you like, make you moan with pleasure.”

He heard her swift intake of air.

“I want to give you pleasure beyond your wildest dreams. I want you, Hadley. Not the agent, not the whip-smart specialist, just you. The woman.”

There was no sound, but he knew she was listening.

“No walls between us. Just you and me. Give yourself over to me, let me have you. You can embrace everything you want.”

“God.” Her voice was a little shaky. “You’re even better than I guessed.”

He frowned. “At what?”

“Doing everything to get what you want. I knew you were dangerous. Ruthless.”

“I’m not a danger to you.”

Her laugh had a sharp edge. “Yes, you are.”

“I won’t betray your trust.” His patience slipped. “I can give you what I don’t think you’ve ever allowed yourself. You can trust me, Hadley. You can let go and I’ll catch you.”

“So dangerous,” she whispered.

He smiled, feeling a little lighter.

“Why?” she asked. “Why do you want me?”

His throat was thick. “Because when I’m with you, life seems brighter. The nightmares seem farther away. Everything seems worth it.”

He heard her quick breath.

Then his phone pinged.

“Message?” she asked.

He swiped at the screen and looked at the phone. Then he cursed.

“Bennett?” Her voice turned serious.

“Another shipment just went missing.”

“No,” she said.

His anger roared back. “I need to go.”

“If you need help, call me.”

He blew out a breath. “Thanks.”

“Good night, Mr. Knightley.”

“Dream of me, Ms. Lockwood.”
