“You really think we’re going to answer those questions, girly,” Eli said in his raspy voice from the driver’s seat.

Great. He could hear them.

“Weren’t born yesterday,” he added.

“I can tell,” she replied caustically. “Some of your gray hairs were likely born before I was.”

There was silence, then Webb laughed.

She slowly turned to Zander. “You can’t just keep me, you know.”

“Why not?”

“Well, it’s against the law for one.”

“Oh, now she cares about the law,” Eli said. “Didn’t seem to care when you were stealing from your employer, huh, girly?”

She had to work hard not to squirm. She hated that there was truth to his words.

“It’s time now, Webb,” Zander said.

Webb sighed and rustled around in the back.

“Time for what?” she asked suspiciously.

“We could have done this while she was asleep,” Webb complained. “Now she’s going to hate me.”

“Think she wouldn’t hate you for doing it while she was asleep?” Zander asked.

“And you shouldn’t care what she thinks about you,” Eli added. “She’s our prisoner.”

She stiffened and opened her mouth to ask her what the hell they thought they were doing when Zander grabbed her, holding her firmly. She couldn’t hold back a cry of pain.

“Sorry, Little Thief,” he said with what sounded like real regret in his voice. “There wasn’t a choice unless we tied you up and put a hood over your head. This is the better option.”

What was? What were they doing?

Then she felt something prick her neck.

And the world went dark.

Those bastards had drugged her!

Fury rippled through her as Keira moved slowly around the room she’d woken up in. If she had the energy and wasn’t feeling so weak and in pain, she might have started smashing things in her frustration.

Now what?

What was she going to do? She’d been hoping to find a way to escape during the trip here, but they’d only stopped once for a bathroom break and Zander had come into the bathroom with her. A bathroom with no opening windows or any way to escape.

Now he’d heard her pee twice.

But that was really the least of her worries.

They’d fucking drugged her. Zander and Webb.

That actually hurt. Because of all of them, those were the two she kind of, almost felt more at ease with. She wouldn’t say trust because that would be stupid. She didn’t trust anyone, let alone someone sent to capture her.
