I rubbed at my brow, smiling at the truth in her words. “I’m different with her. I don’t know … maybe because she’s different. Knowing her, most likely, she’ll change her mind and say no.” A laugh escaped my lips. “It looks like everything is in her court, which is not the norm when it comes to my relationships. This is a first.”

The look on Brandy’s face turned incredulous as she ducked in closer. “Impossible …” Her head tilted, and her smile widened. “You’re in love with her, huh?”

It was weird, talking to my sister about this, given she had hated almost every one of my past relationships.

“I am,” I admitted, feeling more alive just by saying it out loud.

Without warning, she stood from her chair and hugged me hard. “I’m happy for you, Austin. Truly and really happy for you.”

“You are?” I asked.

“Yep, anyone beats Tiffany ‘Too Full of Herself’ Dinent.”

My arms wrapped around her. “You never liked any of my girlfriends.”

“I like this one.” She pulled back and smiled. “That’s a first for me, too, I guess.”

“Yep. That only confirms what I already knew—that Sydney is special.”

CHAPTER38

SYDNEY

“Come on!”Austin said, pulling at my blanket and tossing it across the room, leaving me naked and cold.

I’d come over to have lunch with him, but he’d had other plans in mind, particularly me naked and on my back and him inside me.

“I need to get back to work,” I whined, squealing as he tickled my sides.

He moved above me, trapping me between his knees. “I can’t believe you didn’t tell Serena yet. We’re leaving for LA in a few days.”

I squirmed beneath him, trying to wiggle out of his hold but the damn muscleman wouldn’t budge. “I was going to tell her today.”

“You’ve had a few days to ask her.” He poked at my sides, and when I tried to slap at his hands, he gripped two of mine in the strength of one of his. “She needs to let you go. Your flight is booked and you haven’t had a vacation in a long time.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “I don’t need a vacation.”

His devilish smile surfaced, and he tortured me with tickles. “Wrong answer.”

I bit his wrist, the one holding my hands.

“Sydney!” He gasped, looking shocked that I’d bitten him. But I knew I hadn’t hurt him.

“That’s what you get.” I laughed. “You’re not playing fair.”

He pushed my hands above my head, leaning into me, his cock lying against my stomach, awakening again from its post-orgasm bliss.

I grinned but asked, “What will I even do there? You’ll be in rehab most of the day.”

“You can go to the facility with me in the morning and run and train for the marathon. In the afternoon, I’ve booked you massages and cupcake tours. A Hollywood tour, if you want one.” His face was all sweet.

Internally, I sighed. He’d planned this all for me because he wanted me with him.

“At night, we can have dinner,” he said, his voice lower and deeper. “There are some great restaurants right by the facility, Michelin-rated. Then, after dinner, we can walk on the beach, head back to the hotel, and …”

His lips dropped to the crook of my neck, and instantly, my body awakened.

“I’ll tell her I’m going today,” I whispered, breathless and horny and wanting him again.
