He pulled back and lifted an eyebrow. “You’d better.”
“I will.” Because I wanted to be with him in the morning and have his arms around me in the evening. It sounded like a dream. A dream I never wanted to wake up from.
He nuzzled his nose against mine. “I’ll make sure it’s the best two weeks of your life.”
His thigh moved against my core, rubbing in all the right places. We were going to go again, and I’d have to make another excuse to Serena as to why I’d had a longer lunch than usual, and then I’d have to ask her to give me the next two weeks off.
His hand was between my legs, working his magic, when I stilled beneath him.
“Really … have to go …”
“I know,” he said, his lips in the crook of my neck again. “You’re going to come real soon, I promise.”
He bit my lower lobe, and I groaned out loud.
Then, the doorbell rang.
Our eyes both flipped toward the bedroom door.
“Are you expecting someone?”
“Fuck,” he groaned. “Yeah. Dr. Klein. He’s going to drop off some papers for Dr. Carringtime to review. Just the file on my rehab.” He jumped off the bed and slipped on his pajama pants. “Stay here. Don’t move. I’m not done with you yet.”
I wasn’t moving anywhere. I never wanted him to be done with me. Ever.
AUSTIN
I ran to the door and jerked back. I’d expected to see Dr. Klein, but to my utter shock, Alec stood there, his eyes bloodshot, his hair a disheveled mess, carrying a box of items. He walked right in without an invitation.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
This was not the way that Alec should find out about us.
Definitely not when his sister was naked and still on her back on my bed.
“Here.” He shoved the box in my hands. “It’s hers. This is stuff she left at my house—hair dryer, clothes, makeup.” He ran one hand through his hair, making it stand on end. “You give it to her. I don’t want to see that lying, cheating …” He shook his head.
His eyes went to behind me, toward my room, and I held my breath the whole damn time.
Knowing Sydney, she wouldn’t walk out here, especially since I’d hidden her clothes, kept them hostage until she agreed to come with me to LA.
Still, all of the muscles tightened as he took two steps farther inside my condo. His gaze unfocused, he stared out the floor-to-ceiling windows ahead of him. “Tell her she can keep the damn ring too. I don’t give a fuck anymore.”
“Alec …” Despite being worried he was going to find out about Sydney and me, I hated to see the guy in such disarray, so miserable because my sister had done the unthinkable. He was supposed to become my brother, and now …
I just hated that he was so fucking heartbroken.
His eyes flipped to mine, and I could read the gut-wrenching sadness in them.
“Don’t say you’re sorry. ’Cause you’re fucking not. This didn’t happen to you. This happened to me.”
“I had nothing to do with James and Brandy getting together.” It was important he believed me, more so now than ever because I was in love with his sister and I wanted to keep a good rapport with him.
“Save it for someone who cares.” He pushed past me and out the door.
I stood there, box in my hands, my body slumped, all the tension releasing in one big exhale. I placed the box on the floor and was about to close the door when Alec stormed back in.
Hands balled up in fists, he charged inside. “Sydney!” he called out. “Where the fuck are you?”
