“Don’t, I’m fine.” I show him that I can walk around the hotel room with my boots on. “See, I’m not hobbling.”
“Mostly,” he admits with a smile. “You do look better. Maybe three orgasms were the medicine you needed to feel better.”
I laugh. My cheeks burn just remembering last night. “How is Julianna?” I ask, curious how much of a hard time his daughter gave him when he got home.
“She’s downstairs at the equipment rental booth.” Logan points at my rental boots. “Do you mind if I take those downstairs?”
“Here on business?” I’m only half-joking. Is that why he came up to my room?
“I wanted to see you. I was hoping we could have brunch, but it’s a little late for that now.”
The day is half over, but it definitely wasn’t wasted. “Sorry, I rushed out earlier today to get a new phone and get everything set up on it. I prefer having my boarding pass on my phone.”
Logan nods. “That’s right. You’re leaving tomorrow.” He pauses and stalks closer toward me. “Did you finish your work?”
“My video review?” I shake my head. “I’ll splice it together on the plane. I downloaded all the footage from the cloud, so I just have to piece it together the way I want.”
“Did you get enough shots? Do you need anything from me?” Logan asks.
I quirk a grin. “I wanted an interview with the owner, but I don’t need you to sell this place to the ladies. I’m selfish.” I smirk, wanting him to know that he’s not going to have all the girls chasing after him when I’m done with the review.
Not that it’ll be anything bad, but I don’t want the single ladies knowing he’s the most eligible billionaire bachelor. I’d sooner call him Mountain Grump than let anyone know the real him.
“I don’t think you’re selfish,” Logan says, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me against him. His lips crush mine, and I melt in his arms. “But is it selfish of me if I want you to stay longer?”
I press a kiss to his cheek. “I have to go back home, but we can still be friends.”
“I want more than friends with you, Cali. I thought I made that clear.”
My breath catches in my throat. “I’d like that too, but I’m not sure how it’ll work. I live in Los Angeles, and you live here in Breckenridge.”
He presses his lips together and runs his fingers through my hair, dragging my chin up to meet his intense stare. “We can make long-distance work.”
I get the feeling he wants more, but it was one night and a week in the mountains.
“Give me your phone,” Logan says, and I hand over my new phone, unlocking it. He punches in his phone number and saves it to my contacts. “I expect you to text me when your flight lands and you get home safely.”
I don’t argue with him, because I know his request is out of concern. He cares about me.
He reaches into his pants pocket and retrieves his cell phone. “Can I get your number?”
I laugh and snatch his phone, punching my digits in while also adding myself as a contact. Instead of putting my name, I type inMy Girlfriend. I go one step further, giving him my address. Not that I think he’ll show up, but I want him to have it.
He shoves his phone into his pocket, not having noticed the name on the contact or my address. It’s probably for the best. I don’t want him thinking I’m clingy. Because I’m not.
I happen to like Logan, a lot. And I’d love for this to become more than a friends-with-benefits type of situation. Not that we were ever so much as friends. He seemed to hate me when we first met, and well, I wasn’t too keen on him, either.
“How about we grab something to eat upstairs? I’d like a do-over for that first night we ate together.”
I don’t point out that the first night he actually stood his daughter and me up for dinner. Dinner in his place sounds amazing, especially if dessert is involved.
“What about your daughter?” I ask.
“She’ll be joining us,” Logan says.
I’m not disappointed that I can’t have Logan to myself. Instead, it’s a strange, warm feeling that seeps into me, making me feel like part of the family. The fact that he wants me around his daughter is a nice change of pace from when we first met.
“Oh, good.” I smile and grab a sweater. Not that I expect us to go outside, I’m leaving my coat in the room, but the lodge has some chilly spots.
