“If only it were that easy.” She sighed and hugged me tighter. “But thank you. You’re one of the best people I know too.”

I kissed her forehead and just held her in my arms for a moment. She snuggled up against me, the moment was almost perfect. There was just a few too many clothes between us.

But Sophia was too vulnerable at the moment for any naked hijinks.

After a moment, I pulled back slightly but still kept her in my arms. “Are you hungry? Want to go crash craft services? Or I could ask Jeff to pick up something if you want?”

“No. Thank you. I grabbed something with Jeff earlier.” She smiled up at me. “Well actually, now that you mention it, I am a little hungry.”

“Okay, we could…oh.” I stared, taken aback as Sophia dropped to her knees in front of me and went to work on my fly. “You…I…”

I couldn’t string a single thought together.

“It’s okay, Ro.” Sophia murmured as she opened my fly and pulled my now throbbing dick from my boxers. She held it in one hand while she grinned naughtily up at me. “How about I do all the thinking for us for the next few minutes.”

I could only grunt in agreement as she literally sucked every thought from my head.

Three days later I was still loving life. Sophia and I were happy and screwing like rabbits every chance we got. I got a huge kick out of seeing her watching me on set. Her sparkling eyes and flushed cheeks always lead to something when I finally got her alone in my trailer. But I had only four days left on my shoot. And unbeknownst to Sophia, I’d planned a little vacay in the Caribbean for me and her—a private yacht for the two of us. I wanted to spend some of my downtime just enjoying the sun, surf, and Sophia. Maybe not in that order, but I was excited. What had started out as a weird, fake relationship for publicity had turned into something really fucking special, and I wanted her to know it.

Everything was going perfect.

Which was how I should’ve known it was all gonna hit the fan. Nothing ever went perfect.

I pulled a giggling Sophia up the steps to my front door. We’d left Jeff at the studio and drove home just the two of us. It’d been a long day. Due to the insane LA traffic, it’d felt like forever since I had Sophia alone. And I’d spent most of the drive home painfully hard as I imagined all the things I wanted to do to her.

“I swear you only have one thing on your mind. Always.” Sophia laughed as she took in the obvious bulge in my pants.

“Can you blame me? Have you looked at yourself? You are so fucking sexy. And sweet. And just so goddamn perfect.” I wrapped her in my arms and pulled her close to me. “How did I ever get so lucky to find you?”

Sophia’s chocolatey eyes beamed up at me and I could tell she was holding back her laughter. Like she didn’t believe me. LikeIwas the one being ridiculous.

“Because you had an ornery Dalmatian you couldn’t take with you to New Zealand. Everything after that was just pure dumb luck.”

“Nothing about you coming into my life was dumb. Very much the opposite, actually.” The L-word sparked on my tongue, but it felt too early to say it. And judging by Sophia’s dubious expression, she wouldn’t believe it.

I’d have to take my time and work on showing her how much she meant to me.

Starting tonight.

After keying in my code, I pulled her through the doorway, cupped her face in my hands, and reverently kissed her. I tried to put what I couldn’t say to her into my kiss. That she was worthy. That she could do so much better than me. That I loved her.

Kissing led to wandering hands, and I was pulling on her shirt so I could get to her luscious tits.

“Well, this is awkward.” Nix drawled from somewhere behind me.

I dropped my forehead onto Sophia’s with a groan. There it was. I should’ve known somehow, someway, that the universe was going to crap on me.

Taking a deep breath, I kept Sophia in my arms as I addressed my brother. “What do you want, Nix?”

“What’s wrong, bro? Why can’t you turn around?” Nix snickered.

He sounded high. I knew that cackle. When Nix got high, he got hyper, and when he was coming down from his high, he got mean. Shit.

I turned to face my brother, careful to keep Sophia behind me. “How’d you get in, Nix?”

Nix smirked up at me from my leather sofa he was sprawled out on. His hands behind his head looking like the lord of the manor. Except for his dilated pupils and the faint tremor in his hand as he shoved his hair out of his eyes. “I have an access code.”
