“Am I? You’ve hardly experienced a fraction of what I plan to do to you.”

She laughed softly. “I’ve never gotten off like that before.”

I blinked back my surprise, reminding myself that her ex wasTommy March. He’d never been the most attentive crayon in the box, which I was sure translated to disappointment when it came to small details like a woman’s pleasure.

“Really? No man has ever gotten you there like that?” I nuzzled her neck, placing soft kisses along her collarbone.

She shook her head, a faint blush staining her cheek. “Actually, no guy has ever gotten me off period.”

This time, I couldn’t contain my surprise. I pulled back to look her in the eye. “Seriously?”

She laughed sheepishly. “So, you win the award, Damian Fairchild. And it took place in my boss’s office. On the clock, even.”

I grinned, diving back into that sweet corner of her neck I’d already come to prefer. “What’s better than getting paid and getting off at the same time? That’s my motto, at least.”

She tilted her neck as my kisses drifted lower. Her hands ventured inward, between our bodies, traveling to find my thick erection trapped against her hip.

“But what about you?” she asked.

“I have a few ideas of what we could do.” I tugged at her earlobe with my teeth.

She nodded, doubts crowding her gaze. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. I could tell something was waiting there, vying for airtime.

“What is it?” I asked.

Her gaze dropped, and she started nibbling on her lip. “I-It’s nothing, I….”

“Clearly there’s something on your mind.”

She ran a finger down the front of my shirt, tracing the outline of each button before moving to the next. “I-I don’t know how to say it, I guess. I’m a little afraid of, uh, sounding like a…prude.”

I smirked, my hands drifting back over the exposed expanse of her hips. “I just fingerfucked you against my door. You’re not a prude.”

She blinked rapidly, searching my face. When she spoke, her voice came out a whisper. “I don’t think we can have sex.”

The words didn’t make sense at first. I tipped my head, trying to understand what she was telling me. “What?”

“I-I-I just don’t think I can,” she blurted.

“Like, you don’t want to?” Question marks piled on top of question marks. Had I completely misread this situation? “Because I’m pretty sure physically everything checks out down there.”

She breathed out a small laugh and swallowed hard. “Physically, I wouldloveto have sex with you, Damian. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve only been dreaming of it for practically my entire life. But if I do…how can I say this? I’m not a girl who just has fun. I’m a girl who falls in love. And if we have sex…”

She didn’t need to finish her sentence for me to know what lay on the other side. Disappointment crashed through me as I absorbed her features, the anxiety slashed across her face, the way she struggled to hold my gaze.

“Don’t hate me,” she whispered, her brows knitting together as she searched my face. “I want to. But I’m terrified of what will happen if we do. Because I already know…”

“I don’t hate you,” I told her, stroking her hair, wanting to relieve the anxiety thrumming through her.

“And I don’t want to make things weird, either,” she went on.

“I get what you’re saying. It won’t be weird. We can have fun in plenty of other ways that don’t involve that magical, mystical, delicious act of fucking our brains out.”

Her chest shook with laughter, some of the tension dissolving. “Well, thank you.”

“Besides, maybe you’ll change your mind. And if you do, you know where to find me.”

Truth was, the barbarian in me was rioting, slamming shit around and demanding to know when he could fuck Jessa properly. But I’d play by her rules. If she wanted no sex, I’d give her no sex…while constantly reminding her just how fucking incredible sex with me could be.
