“I would, Gage. Unless you cheat. That’s a dealbreaker on all fronts.”
“Understood, and I don’t cheat if I’m committed to someone.”
“I didn’t think Mike would either.”
“All I can do is swear on the memories of Natasha, Hazel and Ivy that I’d never cheat on you. If you know me at all, and you know me as well as anyone does these days, you understand what that means.”
“I do,” I say softly. “Thank you for that.”
“So…”
“So…”
“What now?”
I check my phone. “I have forty minutes until I have to pick up the kids. Do you want to have some noisy sex to celebrate our new relationship?”
“Noisy sex, huh?” he says as he stands and offers me a hand up.
“A rare opportunity around here.”
He surprises me when he puts his hands on my backside and lifts me into his arms. I love that he’s so much bigger and stronger than me but is only gentle when he touches me. Again, he surprises me when he carries me to the kitchen rather than my bedroom. Pushing aside some mail I tossed on the island, he sets me down, putting me at eye level with him.
“Hi there,” he says, curling a lock of my hair around his finger.
“How’s it going?”
“Better than it has in a long, long time, and it’s all thanks to this petite powerhouse of a woman who has my head turned all around.”
“What’s her name, and where can I find her?”
His smile is a thing of beauty when he lets it fully happen. It makes his eyes sparkle and reveals deep grooves in his cheeks that I’ve rarely seen. I lean forward to kiss them. “I love your dimples. Do you want to know why?”
“Sure.”
“Because I only see them when you really, really smile.”
“You must be seeing a lot of them lately.”
“More than usual, but not as much as I’d like.”
“I’ll work on that,” he says.
“We’ll work on it together.”
“Do I need to be worried about Rob?”
“I took care of that. He knows the deal.”
“Excellent.” He kisses me and makes loud love to me right there on the counter with the windows uncovered in the bright light of day. There’s no one around to see in, but the open windows heighten the experience, leading to an orgasm that makes me scream—because I can.
Gage laughs as he comes right after me, pressing so deep inside me, he takes my breath away.
“You weren’t loud,” I tell him as soon as I can speak again.
“You were loud enough for both of us.”
“I’d forgotten that this exists.”
