“What if something happens to us?”
“Then we have a hundred people who will protect them.” He stroked my cheek. “There will never be an instance where one of our children will experience what you or I experienced. If worst case scenario happens, Rabbit and Parker will take them in, or Raquel and Orion. They will never be alone, and they will never be abused. They will be covered. Always.”
I wrapped my arms around him and buried myface into his chest. “I want babies so bad it hurts. And I want babies with you.”
“Then, let’s have babies. Lots of ’em.”
“Okay. Let’s have lots of babies.” I smiled up at him. “Afterwe remodel this amazing house.”
He leaned down to kiss me just as we heard pipes pulling up to the house again.
“That would be the coffee,” he grumbled.
“And bagels?” I asked, hopefully.
“And bagels,” he confirmed.
“This is why I love you.”
He laughed. “That isn’t why you love me.”
I followed him to the front door. “I’ll neither confirm nor deny.”
Healy and Squishy walked in with our breakfast and we spent the next two hours walking the house and talking about ideas as we ate.
Squishy had designated himself as the official notetaker and since he would be helping with some of the renovations, it was great to have another set of ‘contractor’ eyes. He’d worked a lot on construction crews in the past, and even though his most recent job had been apprenticing under Scooby as an electrician, it didn’t negate the fact he had building experience. According to Wrath, the reno was going to be done by the club, so we’d only have to outsource if there was something they couldn’t do.
To say I was excited was an understatement. It was the perfect start to a perfect day, and I couldn’t wait to get started on the renovations. Just after lunch, we locked the house back up and headed back to the cabin. I had plans to make and money tospend.
Little did I know, that bliss wasn’t going to last for long.

After lunch, Sundance called me and Sierra into the war room and the second we walked in, I got what she would call, “major bad vibes.” Looking back now, I should’ve just driven away from the house and hidden Sierra somewhere no one would find her.
Taxi and Tango were already in the room when we arrived, and Tango looked about as clued in as I was.
“Take a seat,” Sundance said, and I held a chair for Sierra, waiting for her to sit down.
I stood behind her. I had a feeling this was a meeting I wasn’t gonna like, and there was no way in hell I was gonna let my guard down.
Sundance sat beside Tango, and Taxi was standing at the head of the table. A detail that wasn’t lost on me. It was clear who was in control of this operation. Like any good soldier, I’d get my orders from Sundance, but Taxi was the general of our war with the Beast.
“Taxi has an update on the plan which directly affects the both of you,” Sundance said, pointing to Tango and Sierra.
“I’ve had my team back at Quantico, along with the analytics department in DC, working on strategies.”
“Strategies?” I asked, my neck muscles tightening. “Yesterday you said you had a plan. What the fuckis there left to strategize?”
Sierra shifted in her seat. “You’re talking about operation Lucy aren’t you?” Sierra asked Taxi.
“Yeah, Jette, I am.”
She craned her neck to look up at me and frowned. “Sit down, Booth.”
“What’s goin’ on?” I asked.
