Twenty minutes later, we were downstairs, and Wrath was handing me a helmet.
“So, how long’s the ride?” I asked.
Wrath grinned, leaning in to kiss me quickly. “Get on the bike, Moonbeam.”
I wrinkled my nose. “Really? Nothing?”
He swung his leg over and I climbed up behind him, then he started the bike, and we were off. Healy and Squishy were at our backs as we rode, but I had no idea where we were headed. It didn’t take long to figure it out, though, and I couldn’t stop a quiet gasp. Wrath pulled his bike up to a home in the private cul-de-sac in Broadmoor Bluffs Estates. He pulled a garage door opener out of his jacket pocket and pressedthe button, and we rode inside before he closed the door again. Healy and Squishy drove away as Wrath turned off his bike and helped me to the ground.
“This is your house?” I asked as I pulled off my helmet and set it on the seat.
“This isourhouse,” he corrected.
“Do you know how desirable this neighborhood is?”
“Yeah, baby, I do. It’s why I bought the house.” He grinned. “Come on inside. It’s time for you to show me everything you want to change.”
“Me?”
“Yeah. It hasn’t seen an upgrade since probably nineteen-ninety-eight. It’s pretty much a gut job.”
I bit my lip. “You haven’t done anything to it? At all?”
He pushed the door to the house open. “No, baby. I told you. I’ve been waitin’ for you.”
I let out a squeal and clapped my hands. “Oh my god, you are so going to regret you did that.”
He laughed. “I’m countin’ on it.”
I preceded him in through the door which led us directly into the kitchen. “It’s huge.”
“Yeah. It’s got good bones.”
The main floor had a two-story foyer and curved staircase, formal living room and a great room. There was a wrap-around deck with mountain views that were to die for, and I could envision morning coffees or evening grilling out there in the near future.
The primary bedroom was on the first floor along with an office, laundry room, and another bathroom. The basement housed three other bedrooms, a bonus room, and three full bathrooms. Upstairs there was a second primary with ensuite bathroom, and two other bedrooms with a jack-and-jill bathroom.
The back yard had a lot of potential with a huge concrete patio and a rundown gazebo which could be easily restored. Of course, the mature trees made the property private and more like a retreat and I loved it the second I walked around it.
“Honey, it’s amazing,” I breathed out once we were back in the kitchen.
“I’m glad you like it.”
“Do you think it’s too much house for us?”
“Not unless you don’t plan on giving me kids.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You want kids?”
“With you I do,” he said, sliding his hand to my neck. “How do you feel about that?”
I pressed my lips into a thin line. “I don’t know, honestly. Having kids is terrifying.”
“Break that down, honey.”
“How will we protect them?”
“With our lives.”
