Wrath
I let her go. I was tired and I knew I’d say something I’d regret if we kept diggin’ at each other like this. I headed into the shower, needing to wash the last few days away, and when I got out, I noticed I had a text from Orion.
Orion:S is here.
I frowned. Of course she was. She was pissed at me, so naturally, she’d run to her best friend to bitchabout it.
Me:I’ll give her an hour.
Orion gave me a thumbs up, so I got dressed and headed downstairs for something to eat before heading over to their place. Orion and Raquel’s house was on club property, and walkable if there was daylight, but since it was well past ten, I decided to ride down to their home. I rode slowly since it had been raining off and on for the past two days, so the ground was slick.
After parking, I walked inside and was met by Orion who immediately handed me a beer.
“Am I gonna need this?” I asked.
“You might.”
“Jesus,” I hissed.
Before I could take a swig, Raquel and Sierra walked out from the mouth of the hallway and Sierra scowled.
“You’re a fucking narc,Adam.”
“Okay, take it down a notch,” Raquel warned.
“Well, he is,” Sierra hissed. “The only way he’d know I was even here was if he called him, which is so fuckingparental.”
I raised an eyebrow. “First of all, he texted. Second, even if he hadn’t and I’d found you gone, what do you think woulda happened, Moonbeam?”
“Nothing. Nothing would have happened. You would have gone to sleep and left me the fuck alone to forget you exist.”
Orion turned away, biting back a laugh, and I dragged a hand through my beard.
“Let’s leave Orion and Raquel to their eveningand we’ll continue this fight back at the cabin,” I suggested.
She crossed her arms, her mop of curls bobbing as her chin whipped up in defiance. “Ah, nope. I’m staying here tonight.”
“Baby girl, you arenotstaying here tonight. So, you can either come with me now, or I’m gonna carry you out. Your choice.”
“Fuck off, Booth.”
“Right.” I set the beer on the table by the door and bent down, scooping her up and throwing her over my shoulder.
“Wrath!” she screeched. “Oh my god, put me down, right now.”
I gave Orion a salute. “Have a good night.”
“Raquel, make him put me down,” Sierra demanded.
“Wrath, put her down,” Raquel said, but it was more of a suggestion, rather than a demand.
“No,” I said, opening the front door.
“Wait,” Raquel said, following me out. “She isn’t wearing any shoes.”
She handed me Sierra’s boots.
