I scrunched up my nose. “I know. You’re annoying.”
“I know.” She grinned, grabbing her own glass. “I’m going to pump and dump.”
Orion walked in and paused. “Those are big pours. Everything okay?”
Raquel shrugged. “Other than Sierra strong-arming your dad? Golden.”
“Jesus,” he hissed. “You’re brave.”
He made his way to his wife and kissed her.
“Luca down?” she asked.
“Yep.” He set the baby monitor on the island and grabbed a beer. “Are you cooking, or am I?”
“You are,” Raquel and I said, in stereo, then laughed.
“I see how it is.” He grinned. “Go drink.”
We didn’t wait. I grabbed the wine, Raquel grabbed the baby monitor, and we made our way out to the great room where I spent the night eating my feelings and drinking almost enough to forget my man wasn’t in my bed.
Almost.
Sierra
Friday afternoon, Ihad just stepped out of the shower when I heard Wrath’s voice. I threw a towel around my body, leaving my hair wet, as I sprinted through my room and into his. “You’re home?”
“Fuck,” he hissed. “I’m not alone, Moonbeam.”
Scooby turned his back with a chuckle. “Sorry, Sierra.”
“Um, nope, my fault,” I stuttered. “I mean, technically, I’m covered, but I appreciate the fact you’re a gentleman.”
“Give me two seconds, honey,” Wrath said.
I wrinkled my nose, dying to get my arms around him. “You’ve got one.”
He gave me a quick kiss, pushing me back through my secret door. I rushed to dress, so by the time Wrath walked into my room, I’d managed to pull on a T-shirt and a pair of panties.
“Hey, baby.”
“When did you get home?” I demanded.
“Flew into Denver about two hours ago. Traffic was a bitch.”
“Well, you should have told me. I would have upgraded you to first class into Colorado Springs.”
He raised his chin. “Are you going to stand over there or get your ass over here and greet me properly?”
I licked my lips. “I want to greet you properly, but you have to be careful.”
He frowned. “Why the fuck do I have to be careful?”
I raised the hem of my T-shirt, revealing my newly pierced nipples.
“Fuck me,” he breathed out.
“Do you like?” I asked as I closed the distance between us.
