Sundance pushed away from his desk and moved around it to me, holding his hand out. I stood and he pulled me into his fatherly arms. “Shh, baby girl, he’s comin’ home.”
“When?” I bit out. “When is he coming home?”
“When he’s done.”
I rolled my eyes, pushing away from him. “That is such an asshole biker thing to say.”
He couldn’t stop a slight smile. “Sorry, honey, there’s nothin’ else Icansay.”
“Order him home.”
“Not gonna do that.”
I threw my hands in the air. “Why not?”
“Because he’s got shit to do, so until that shit’s done, he’s gotta stay where he is.”
“Sierra?” Raquel walked into the room and frowned.
“But you have the power to get him home now,” I continued.
“I’m aware,” Sundance said.
“So, use that power.”
Sundance crossed his arms. “No.”
“What’s going on?” Raquel asked.
“Nothing,” I bit out.
Raquel’s eyebrows went up in concern. “Really?”
“Yes. Just a disagreement about who the boss trulyisin this establishment.”
Sundance let out a howl of laughter, and Raquel raised an eyebrow. “You two have a very strange relationship.”
“I’m going to get you some crystals,” I threatened. “You need to learn how to be more flexible.”
“But before that, we’re going to get some wine.” Raquel grabbed my arm. “And food. Someone’s apparently superhangry.”
“Hey,” I snapped as she dragged me from Sundance’s office. “I wasn’t done.”
“Oh, you’re done,” Raquel hiss-pered, pulling me toward the kitchen. “You cannot speak to the president of the club like that.”
“He’s the reason Wrath’s not here.”
“I’m pretty sureyou’rethe reason Wrath’s not here,” she pointed out, opening a bottle of red.
Direct hit.
I pulled in a loud breath. “Rude.”
“Fact.”
“Why would you say something so mean?”
“First, it’s not mean, it’s the truth.” She handed me a very full wine glass. “And second, I’m your best friend and the only one with balls enough to speak said truth.”
