My fingernails dug into his back as he began to thrust, eyes fixed on my face. His own face was strained with pleasure. He picked up the pace and moved one hand between us, slowly rubbing at my clit. “I want to make you come,” he murmured.

I let out a moan and gripped his ass, pulling him in deeper as I met his thrusts with my hips. His hand kept working away between my legs, winding me up so tight I felt as if I were about to explode.

“Do you still hate me?” he asked in a low voice, lifting one of my knees.

“Yes,” I said breathlessly, digging my fingernails into his back.

“Good.” He withdrew and drove back in. “I love the way you hate me. Keep doing it.”

That was enough to send me careening over the edge. As I moaned and shuddered, Jax thrust faster and harder until I was nothing but a quivering mess, crying out his name over and over. He groaned low and deep, burying his face in my neck. One more thrust and a shudder wracked his body. I squeezed my muscles around him, keeping him inside me as he came.

As I caught my breath, he kissed down my face and over my throat and collarbone, muttering one word over and over. “Mine.”

“This wasthe best idea I’ve had all night.”

I reclined in the steaming hot tub and stared up at the night sky, groaning with pleasure as the warm water soaked into my tired muscles.

Jax nudged me with his foot from the opposite side of the tub. “Really?”

I dropped my gaze from the stars and grinned at him. “Second best idea, I mean.”

“That’s what I thought,” he said, grinning back at me.

My eyes coasted over his dripping chest and arms. “You know… I should probably tell you something.”

“Yeah?”

“I don’t really hate you,” I said, raising my brows. “Not anymore.”

“I know.” Jax smiled and rubbed my foot under the water. “You made it kind of obvious when you put your legs over my shoulders earlier.”

I laughed and splashed him. “Shut up!”

Jax chuckled and dodged the water, sliding over in the tub to wrap his arms around my waist. His face suddenly went serious, and he cupped my chin in one hand and tilted it up so I had to look at him. “I really am sorry, you know. For everything.”

“I know.”

He pressed his lips to mine in a tender kiss. Somewhere to the left, a twig cracked. The sound was followed by a dull thud from the direction of the chalet.

A chilly finger of fear zipped down my spine. I broke away from the kiss, eyes wide. “Did you hear that?”

“Hear what?” Jax asked, brows dipping in a frown.

I pointed away from the deck, toward a thicket of trees. “It sounded like there were twigs snapping somewhere over there,” I said. I turned to look at the chalet. “I think I heard the front door open, too. The girls might be back.”

“I think we’d know if they were back. They’d be shrieking and jumping up and down the second they realized we were in this hot tub together.” Jax arched an eyebrow. “Especially since we’re naked.”

“No, seriously.” I peered toward the trees again. “I heard something.”

“Relax,” Jax said softly, sliding his arms around me again. “It’s probably just animals running around. Or the wind. It’s been howling all night.”

I took a deep breath and slumped back down in the hot water. “I didn’t even think of that,” I said, feeling stupid. “I’m so paranoid.”

“Yeah, well, I can’t blame you after the last few months,” Jax murmured, tenderly tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
