I lay back and looked up at the stars again, enjoying the quiet comfort of Jax’s arms. When I heard another dull thud from the chalet, I sat up straight and lifted my arms to the edge of the tub. “We should probably get out now.”

“How come?” Jax asked, eyes fixed on my bare chest as I rose from the water. “I’m still having fun.”

“I keep thinking I’m hearing the girls coming back,” I said, glancing toward the glass door on the other side of the deck. “I know it’s not actually them right now, but it will be pretty soon. It’s getting late.”

“Do you care if they see us?”

I worried my bottom lip between my teeth. “Um… yeah. A bit.”

“Why?” Jax asked, furrowing his brows.

“Well, if we’re seen hanging out naked together in a hot tub, people will hear all about it, and then they might start saying stuff about me. Like… calling me a slut or something,” I said, nervously knitting my fingers together. “You know it’s always the girl people go after the most. Never the guy. And I’ve had enough rumors spread about me lately.”

“I get it.” Jax rose from the steaming tub and joined me on the deck. He picked up a towel and wrapped it around me. “We can keep this a secret if you want.”

I flushed and leaned into his embrace. “It’s not that I want it to be a secret. I just don’t wantthisto be the way everyone finds out about us.”

“That’s fair.” He smiled faintly and pulled me closer, rubbing the towel up and down to catch all the droplets dripping from my hair. “We can keep it quiet until you’re comfortable with telling people, okay?”

“Thanks.” I returned his smile and ruffled his hair. “Let’s get inside and get dressed before we freeze to death.”

Five minutes later, Jax was gone. It was good timing, because only two minutes after that, Erin and the rest of the girls drunkenly stumbled through the front door.

I showered, got into my pajamas, and climbed into bed, immediately rolling to the side so I could breathe in Jax’s intoxicating scent from my pillow. I still couldn’t believe what we did earlier. The memory of his hands on my body and his lips on my mouth made me tingle and shiver, and I was sure I wouldn’t be able to sleep because of it.

I was right. An hour later, I was still wide awake, thinking of Jax.

My phone lit up on the bedside table. I rolled over and grabbed it, lips instantly curving into a smile when I saw Jax’s name pop up on the screen.

Jax:I can’t wait to see you again

Me:Me too :)

Jax:I mean it literally. I have to see you again now. We didn’t get enough time together earlier and it’s driving me crazy just thinking about you

Me:It’s 2am! Plus all the girls are home now. We’d probably wake them up haha

Jax:Yeah probably, but I have an idea if you’re up for it…

Me:Depends what it is lol

Jax:Sneak out and meet me at one of the staff cottages. I have the keys, thanks to my uncle.

Me:Won’t there be people there?

Jax:Nope, most of them are only occupied in winter when ski season fully kicks off. It’d be cool to have our own space for a few hours, right? Plus no one will see us down there.

Me:Hm I don’t know. It’s super late and I don’t even know where the staff cottages are

Jax:I know it’s late, but I can’t sleep. Can you?

Me:No, I can’t either

Jax:So come meet me. I’ll drop a pin so you know exactly where to go. It’s just down that path that leads away from your chalet on the left. You know the one?

Me:I think so. But I don’t know. It’s so cold outside.

Jax:I’ll keep you warm
