"My king?"

Suddenly a voice spoke behind me, and I turned around to see a tall and lean woman with sharp green eyes. She looked like someone who ran this place, yet also looked like someone who hadn't gotten laid in a hundred years. She was all uptight and her back couldn't be straighter than it was.

"Is there something I can help you with?"

Her sharp canines showed when she spoke, and she smelled of vampire ... maybe she had really not gotten laid in a hundred years.

"I am looking for someone," I said.

"Someone?"

"A server," I said. "Small, brown hair and blue eyes. She is a half-blood."

I was surprised I had even noticed any of the details about her. Normally, I never noticed anything about anyone. I didn't really bother with it, and there were always so many people and different kinds of details around me, it all just mixed together in my head. Even the beautiful vampire the council had decided for me, and whom I had met at the beginning of the evening, I barely remembered anything about. I had almost not spoken two words to her before I walked away and fucked someone else. It didn't really matter if I approved or not. Arianna was chosen by the council, and therefore it would be her, who would be my mate, but now ... now I had found something much better.

"Oh ... her," she said. "Did she do something? Should I have her fired?"

"Just tell me where she went," I said a bit impatient.

The woman looked around and slowly started to look like someone who had no idea, where my little half-blood had gone.

"You don't know where she is, do you?" I asked irritated.

Fear started to surround her natural scent, and it stung in my nose, making me take a step back.

"I-I am sorry, my king ... I ... I ..."

"She went outside," someone suddenly said.

It was another server. He stood on the other side of the huge kitchen island and looked as scared as the rest, but it was clear he relaxed, as he saw how pleased I was with his answer.

"Thank you," I said. "Finally, someone who can give me a proper answer."

I just walked past the stammering woman and followed the hallway until I came to an open door. It led outside to a smaller and darker path. It was clear it had been made so the not-so-important people wouldn't be seen come and go. There was barely any light, so you couldn't really see where you were going. Luckily as a hybrid, my eyes were much better, even at seeing in the dark.

I rolled my eyes at the sight before following the small path. As I got closer to the road, I picked up that sweet scent of hers, and smiled, as it once again filled my nostrils. My mate was very close now, I knew that, and this whole chase just made me more excited to get my hands on her.

When I finally reached the sidewalk, I looked to both sides, finally seeing her further away. She was about to get inside a taxi, and I hurried over there, slamming the door close, just as she opened it. She let out a small gasp and took a step back, but when she finally saw who it was, she took three more, almost going onto the grass again.

"Going somewhere, little wolf?" I asked.

She gulped, and the smell of her fear only got more powerful, but this time it didn't annoy me. No, it excited me, and I quickly signaled for the taxi to go. She looked at it, as it started to drive away, and she almost tried to reach for it, but I blocked out the sight of it, completely trapping her.

"Well?" I asked and took a step closer.

It only made her take one back, and her breathing slowly quickened. She didn't know what to do, as she stood there in front of me. She even shortly glanced behind her, as if she was looking for an escape, and it only made me smile even bigger.

"Please. Do try and run little wolf," I said. "You won't get far."

My voice lowered and turned almost animalistic towards the end, and it clearly had an effect on her, as she started to shake. Fuck, I had never wanted anything more. I even hoped she tried to run. It would be a direct invitation to hunt her. You just didn't turn your back to an alpha, and definitely not a hybrid. The chase would only make the catch that much sweeter, and while I had no idea if she was a fast runner, I knew she couldn't outrun me.

"What do you want?" she asked trying to feign some confidence.

She even dared to look me in the eyes, and the defying behavior only got me more excited for her. I was so damn hard and in need to mate with my little mate, I could barely concentrate on what she was saying.

"You," I said in a dark voice.

"W-Why?"
