It would probably be awkward at first, what with how Amanda had kissed Snow out of nowhere, but after Nicole, she was no stranger to awkward situations.

Amanda found herself dialing Emily’s number. Emily answered on the sixth ring. “Hey, Amanda.”

“Hey, Ems. Do you have time to talk?”

“Of course. What’s up?”

“It’s Snow.”

Emily sighed. “What did you do now?”

“Nothing! Well, not nothing, but nothing bad.”

“Then why are you calling me in the middle of your workday?”

“Okay, so it might have been bad,” Amanda admitted. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that it had, in fact, been a poor decision on her part.

She had kissed Snow so quickly that Snow hadn’t had a chance to see what she was about to do and give her consent. No consent constituted sexual assault. Amanda felt sick. Had she just assaulted Snow?

Snow had seemed to enjoy the kiss, judging by how she had kissed her back, but perhaps Amanda had misread that. Maybe Snow was just trying to get away from her and Amanda had misinterpreted that as desire. She didn’t even know if Snow was gay.

The statistics were sadly against her. There were far more straight women than gay or bi women in the world.

“Amanda? Hello, can you hear me?”

“What?”

“Can you still hear me?”

“I—yes, sorry. I just zoned out for a minute.”

“Well? Are you going to tell me what happened?”

“Snow came to the house. She was angry about me not crediting her in the photos. We argued…”

Emily sighed. “You should have seen that one coming.”

“You didn’t meet her. She came across as so passive, I never thought she had this kind of reaction in her.”

“So you’re complaining because she stood up for herself.”

“No, I’m not complaining. I liked it. A bit too much, in fact.”

“What do you mean?”

“I… I might have kissed her.”

Emily burst out laughing.

“This isn’t funny, Ems! This is serious. She could be filing charges against me as we speak.”

Emily’s laughter cut off very suddenly. “You mean she wasn’t willing?”

“I don’t know! The whole thing happened so fast. She kissed me back, that much I’m fairly certain of, but what if she was just doing it to get the kiss over and done with as fast as possible? What if she was afraid of me and wanted to kiss me back just so that I’d let her go? She’s so much younger than me, I just worry I’ve crossed some kind of line.”

“Well, from what you’ve told me, it doesn’t sound like she was afraid. If she was willing to come to you and start a fight, she’s probably not so scared of you that she would suffer a kiss she didn’t want. I bet she would have slapped you if she hadn’t wanted it. I did actually meet her, you know.”

“You did?”
