Frankie
“Ed,ifyoudon’tlet me into Matt’s room, I will sit in the hall until I know he’s okay,” I whined out, aware that I sounded like the brat Matt kept calling me.
“When he’s back from the hospital, I will let him know you want to see him. I promise, Frankie.”
“I still don’t understand why he needed the hospital. He seemed fine.”
“Just a check up, I think. It’s late, go get some rest,” Ed steered me back to my suite.
“Ed…”
“Frankie, please.”
“Fine.” I slammed my door with frustration, but then I remembered I had Matt’s number. I called, but it went straight to his voicemail, so I typed out a text.
Me: Are you ok?
There wasn’t any reply for over an hour, then suddenly apingechoed through my room.
Matt: I’ll be fine.
Me: Why are you still at the hospital? I’m worried. PS thank you for saving my life.
Matt: All’s good. I just needed a check up. Don’t worry, Rogue, I’ll be back soon.
Me: Did you get hurt? And don’t lie to me.
Matt: I did, but it’s minor.
Me: Matt! What the hell?
Matt: I was doing my job. I’d happily get hurt to keep you safe.
Me: When will you be back?
Matt: Soon.
Me: Can I wait in your room? I need to see you’re okay.
Matt: No. You don’t need to check on me. I’ve had worse.
Me: Not helping.
Matt: The best thing you can do for me is go to bed. I’ll see you in the morning. I promise I’m good. Are you okay?
Me: I’m fine. This huge, scary as fuck man saved me. I owe him my life.
Matt: You owe me nothing. Bed. Now.
Me: Yes, sir.
But I couldn’t sleep. I hated the fact he was at the hospital because of me. I hated he was hurt and most of all I hated not knowing what was wrong with him. After getting changed into myFraggle RockPJs, I sneaked out of my suite quietly, checking around to make sure no one else was up.
Stepping into the elevator, I pressed the button for the floor below us, knowing that was where Matt’s room was.
Finding his room, I slumped down to the floor in the dimly lit corridor and waited for him to get back. Exhaustion from the events of this evening made my eyelids heavy and as I sat waiting, I must have fallen asleep.
“Frankie, what the fuck are you doing?”
