“Apparently that was part of the agreement. Should any crime happen, the estate of Merivale would sue.”

I rose from the couch and took a walk around the circular room. The sun splashed bright light everywhere. I paused at the bay window overlooking Grosvenor Square, where I’d taken a selfie in front of the enchanting statue of rabbit-headed lovers straddling a horse for my Instagram page.

He came to join me and put his arm around me. We remained there, close and comfortable, tender and sweet. We’d had plenty of those moments between bursts of explosive sex.

“I have to go back tomorrow.” He kissed my hair, and his herbal-infused scent rushed through me.

I stared him in the face and soaked up his beauty before speaking. “I wouldn’t mind a lift back. All my work here is done for now.”

“Oh, sorry. I didn’t ask. How did it go?” His sweet smile made me want to get down on my knees and suck him off again.

I’d never liked blowing men before. In fact, I avoided it. But I loved Ethan’s dick and how it grew steel-hard in my mouth.

I’d almost forgotten what we were talking about. I couldn’t look at Ethan and not think of sex. “Orson will bring in a publicist, and off we go.”

He slanted his head. “Are you tired?”

“No. I’m just a little burnt-out, I think.” I frowned. “Does it show?”

He laced his fingers in mine, and suddenly, it was pure affection, like my well-being meant everything to him. “No. You’re gorgeous. In fact, I like seeing you look tired. It’s a good excuse to go to bed.” His brow arched, and I smiled.

Yep, we’re both sex mad.

I allowed him to play with my fingers, the gentle massage tingling through me caressingly. “I think I need a break from music. I’m thinking of doing something else for a while.”

“Really?” A line formed between his brows. “I thought you loved it. And you’re so talented.” His eyes shone like he meant it.

I smiled. “Thanks. Just a break from gigs and recording for now. I’m sure I’ll spring back after a few weeks.”

His phone rang again, and he flinched.

“Take it. You’ve got a lot on.”

I sat on a blue velvet armchair by the window and allowed my mind to take a stroll around the park over the road. I felt tired, all right. And a little nauseous too. I’d missed my period, which had me worried. Six weeks ago, I had sex with Orson, then a few days later, I had sex with Ethan. Scattered from all the crazy shit going on in my life, I might have forgotten to take my pill; sometimes I did. However, Orson had used a condom.

Am I ready for motherhood? To be a single mother? My stomach contracted, and I raced to the bathroom.

Later that evening, I hoped Ethan hadn’t noticed me picking at my food. The house came with an excellent cook, and it was like eating at a five-star restaurant every night. I couldn’t take advantage of it, though, because of this sudden nausea. Perhaps it was nerves, I told myself. That made sense, considering how edgy I’d become between rounds of hot sex and endless orgasms.

The next day, Ethan dropped me off at my flat in Bridesmere.

He turned and asked, “Can I stay here tonight?”

Now that was like him asking if he could swap his opulent Mayfair home for a council flat, where it was drug dealers and not some butler with a plum in his mouth standing at the entrance.

My eyebrows met. “Sure. It’s not exactly luxurious.”

Playing with a strand of my hair, he smiled at my perplexed response. “My mother won’t let you stay. I’m sorry. While I’m here, I might find another place. Would you be interested?”

I bit into my cheek. “Like us live together?”

He chewed on his lower lip, something he often did when searching for an answer. “I’m not here all the time, as you know. Or it can be your place, and I can stay whenever I’m here.” His face brightened, as though he’d finally solved a complex puzzle. “What do you think?”

“Like I move?” I repeated.

He smiled. “You look bewildered.”

I am. Just a little.Independent to a fault, I fidgeted. A ton of scenes flashed before me, like a computer game on steroids. “It’s a big thing for me to give up my flat.”
