Emma had been lying against the bed, her bun having fallen out and the headband gone awry. She was stunned but understanding at the same time. She adjusted her clothing and her hair as Ace rose from the bed, trying not to meet his eyes.

Ace, of course, felt guilty. He had rejected her advances, and no one enjoyed that feeling.

“I understand,” she said, fixing her tank top. “Let me know when you want to go out, and I’ll get myself ready.”

Ace nodded, then crossed the room promptly. He pulled the curtain they had rescued during their cleaning session behind him, then realized that his cock was hard as stone.

“Fucking getting me in trouble,” he said to himself.

He hated seeing that look on her face. He physically hurt after possibly offending her, but if he went any deeper, he would fuck himself over majorly. He already yearned for her like she was air, so what would having sex again do to him?

His cheetah was getting angry. How dare you assume I would hurt her. You are acting like an untamed animal while I am here, wanting to go back to her, make her explode with pleasure, and catch her as she comes back to earth.

He kicked one of the kitchen drawers that was left open, sending it sailing toward the ceiling. The utensils crashed onto the ground, and he cringed. But Emma didn’t say anything. He cleaned up his mess and sat at the table, feeling like he had just made things worse rather than any better.

He needed to get the mission over with. They needed to figure out what the fuck was going on with Fritz and Benny. Then he would be on his way. It wasn’t any good to be falling for the enemy’s beauty. That made it almost impossible to be objective.

He listened as Emma got into the shower. He imagined her naked, cleaning her wonderful body of the anticipatory sweat. He wondered if she touched herself in there at all, thinking about him, and he shook his head. He needed to get the fuck out of there as much as she did.

Emma emerged from the room half an hour later after getting ready. She looked just as divine wearing a black jumpsuit and running shoes that complimented her body type.

Her hair was in a bun again, and the exposure of her neck was going to drive Ace wild. His mouth had just been there, and he wanted it to be there again.

“I’m ready,” she said, holding her purse. “So, where on this great earth are you taking me?”

Ace quickly grabbed his keys before he had another chance to admire her allure.

“I thought we could shop for some plants, ones that you might be better at keeping alive,” he quipped.

Chapter15

Emma

Emma was frazzled by her intense make-out session with Ace. She was never a woman to be forward like that, but with Ace, she had felt a surging, sexy confidence. She wanted him to know that she wanted him and was hopeful that he felt the same.

When he had rejected her advances, a series of emotions ran through her mind, hurt, of course, but also confusion. He had clearly enjoyed walking in on her when she was playing with herself and using the chair to aid in their amazing fucking.

And it wasn’t just hunger she saw and felt from him. It wasn’t only lust she felt for him either. She had been with men that she hoped would go beyond that physical connection, but their relationships had always fizzled out.

It was different with Ace. Even when he had scared and intimidated her when they first met, she had felt a spark. The sex had been the best she’d ever had, but the fact that she craved to know him beyond the bedroom said a lot, especially considering the situation they were in.

She wore something neutral for their outing but found herself searching for something that made her shape pop. It wasn’t a date, per se, but she loved the feeling of having his animal's eyes on her. She was playing a dangerous game, but it turned her on, unlike anything else.

She chose a tight black jumpsuit that made her ass stick out like a tasty peach, as well as a bra that pushed her tits together for some magnificent cleavage. She threw on some running shoes to throw off the look, to appear more casual.

Ace wasn’t stupid. He probably knew that she was trying to look cute earlier with her tank top and jean shorts despite her minor fear of him and his intentions. She looked into the mirror, fixed her hair, and sighed. It would be good to get out of the house if that’s all it came down to.

They drove to a home and garden store to pick out some plants for her apartment. They strolled together through the greenhouse, resembling a couple who had been there a thousand times before.

“I don’t know how I convinced myself that I was a plant person,” Emma said, pushing the cart. “I suppose it seemed like the popular thing to do.”

Ace strolled beside her, wearing jeans and a tight red T-shirt. Women gave him a double-take glance when they passed by, seemingly shocked that someone could look so good with such little effort.

“It’s a popular thing?” Ace said, looking oblivious.

Emma nodded, continuing into the succulent section. “A lot of people are obsessed with their plant babies,” she asserted. “I guess I thought I would be too, for some reason.”

“And why is that?” Ace said.
