She didn’t bother saying more, so she turned and headed inside. She went straight to her room, but her nerves didn’t calm. She paced, upset about the entire encounter.
She paused when she heard a soft knock on the door. She opened it to see Levi standing there. He looked down at his shoes, kicking his foot over the carpet. He looked up and rubbed his hand over his hair. “I don’t want us to fight.”
Hannah leaned into the door frame, waiting for more.
“I have a lot of internal feelings to process over everything, and I shouldn’t have taken it out on you. I’m sorry, and I promise it’s something I’m working on. I have things to work on.”
Hannah glared at him, not wanting to talk about anything. She took a deep breath, really wanting to tell Levi to go away, or her favorite motto,go to hell. But she knew better. They still were stuck in this house together, after all. Besides, if she didn’t care, why had she been pacing?
So, she pulled the door open, allowing him to come into her room. She shut the door with a sigh. “Well, I’m not someone that likes to forgive and forget things, but I’ve been told it’s something that I need to work on. I can’t always expect that everyone wants to fuck me over. Those were my boss’s exact words.”
Levi rubbed his neck. “Does that mean you’re going to forgive me? Are you saying you’ll forgive me?”
Hannah rubbed her arm. “I’m saying, I’m trying. So, you get a one-time pass because I know you’re going through a rough time, and I understand it’s not easy. But the next time, I won’t be so nice.”
Levi sat on the bed and tried to change the conversation. They talked about the night and even laughed about the incident at the arcade.
Hannah laughed, sitting cross-legged next to Levi, who leaned against the bedpost. Levi shook his head. “You know, your ability is shocking. You sent that man flying, and he had to be over two hundred pounds easy.”
Hannah snorted, and Levi started laughing harder. She leaned forward, giving him a wink. “I have magic powers, remember? I shift.”
Levi nodded, holding her gaze. “I know; it’s pretty cool.”
The air changed, and Hannah looked deep into his eyes. For a second, the world stopped moving, and then suddenly, they both jumped.
Levi grabbed her, pulling her flush against him and their lips collided in a rough kiss. Hannah landed on his lap, grinding down on him. She moaned, feeling her body heat with anticipation. She wanted this. She wanted him.
Levi’s hand pulled up her shirt, cupping her breast. Hannah pulled back. “Fuck.”
“What?” he asked. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she said. “Nothing at all.” She kissed him once more. “Just that we need a condom.”
Hannah pushed herself up, grabbing for her bag. She threw things out, desperately digging around. She swore she had condoms. Not that she ever needed them, but they were nice to have in cases like this.
“I have some,” Levi said. “I can just run back to my room and grab them.”
“Do not move,” she grumbled. If he left the room, the moment would be ruined. She wasn’t having the moment ruined twice in a day. “I have some. Just give me one more second.”
She threw out a few more items onto the bed, getting to the bottom. She scowled, frustrated.
“Hey, is this from your mom?” She turned her head, looking over at Levi. He sat now holding a letter in his hand, the letter she found in her mailbox the other day. Her stomach dropped.
She didn’t even realize she had pulled it out because she was so focused on the damn condom. Levi looked confused, his eyes locked on the name written on it. “I thought you said the two of you didn’t speak anymore?”
Hannah’s stomach churned, and she wanted to vomit.

LEVI
Levi was barely able to read the address line of the letter before Hannah came over and snatched it away. Levi held a hand up in the air, slightly dumbfounded.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I just made an assumption that it was from your mother, last name and all. You said you both hadn’t spoken for a while.”
Hannah walked over to the bedside table and stuffed the letter in the drawer. Levi’s heart was palpitating from their hot make-out session and the tender sensation of her breasts on his palms.
The mood had shifted abruptly, but he was still very curious.
