“What? No. I… I mean… Sounds fun.”

“I’ll find out the deets and let you know.” He turned and was gone as fast as he’d arrived, still sporting some of his chocolate facial.

Things were looking up. Alcy couldn’t wait to surprise Beez again.

Chapter Thirteen

The Devil’s Food cake was done, Alcy had left, going to—where does he go to when he’s not here?—and Carter didn’t even have time to blink before Beez was back, grinning, clad only in jeans that werewaytoo tight.

“So, this party…” Beez rubbed his hands together with obvious glee. “This is so great. I haven’t been to one of these parties in… geez, it must be decades.”

“Decades?” Carter echoed. “Tell me about them. What kind of parties are we talking about?” Because with Beez, anythingwas possible.

Beez’s smile wasallkinds of sexy. “Great-fun-to-be-had, let-it-all-hang-out, no-holds-barred kinda parties. I started them somewhere around 1922. A group of men were pissed about Prohibition, and they summoned me to make with the fun. I found and bought a warehouse that—”

“You have money? I mean, I know you threw some at Danny, but at the time, it didn’t even register,” Carter interjected. It wasn’t something he’d considered up till then.

“Yeah, we have money. Lots of it.” Beez gave him a frank stare. “We take care of our summoner’s needs, right? Because if they want to go out and get a Lamborghini, we have to be able to make that happen.” He puffed out his broad chest. “Big or small, we can grant them all.”

“And what happens when you disappear?”

Beez cocked his head. The cute move reminded Carter of a curious puppy, who wanted to understand what their master was trying to get them to do.

Except Beez isdefinitelythe master.

“What do you mean?”

“Well… let’s take the Lamborghini as a for instance. You buy it, and when you’re done and the mission is over, you disappear. Doesn’titdisappear too?”

Beez snorted. “What wouldwewant with a Lamborghini? No, we grant their wish, and the item stays with them. Anyhow, back to these parties… In this instance, the guys wanted a safe space where they could get together and drink themselves stupid.” He beamed. “I made that happen. When they were satisfied, I left, but the building remained. Even after all this time, it’s still registered in my name, but the men promised me it would be taken care of. And here we are, one hundred years later, and it’s bigger than ever. The guys expanded on what I did, and opened it up to everyone. Parties are a regular feature, except now, the fellas in charge have a list of people who are on the ‘must invite’ list.” He pressed his hand to his chest. “Yours truly is at the top of it.”

“And how do they contact you?”

“Same way you did. A quick summons—where all the men drop a load in a jar, chanting my name—and bang!”

Carter frowned. “So it’s a sex party?” He wasn’t sure how he felt about going to one of those.

“What? No! Definitely not.” His eyes gleamed. “Okay… maybe?”

Despite his roiling stomach, Carter laughed. “You think you could make up your mind?”

“Will there be sex? Oh, I have no doubt about that. Will it turn into an orgy? Maybe? There areallkinds of freaks and weirdos who attend this stuff.”

And somehow you think I’d fit in with that?“Youdoknow I’m not really either of those things, right?”

Beez gave a strange half-smile. “No, you aren’t.” He leaned forward, his eyes glinting. “But wouldn’t it be fun topretendfor a night? Let your hair down, dance a little, meet some people? You never know… you might meet The One.”

The roiling stopped, and a knot formed in Carter’s belly. “The One?”

“Sure. The perfect man for you.” Beez rolled his eyes. “Youknow, the reason you summoned us in the first place? I know we got off track a bit, but we’ve been here a while already, and we haven’t achieved our goal yet. But don’t worry, wewillget there. We want to find you the guy who’s going to sweep you off your feet and make you the center of his world. The dude who will fuck you until you scream, and then snuggle with you until you fall asleep in his arms.” Beez cocked his head again. “Thatwaswhat you said you wanted when you summoned us, right?”

Carter had stopped listening at ‘The One.’But… I’ve already met him.Only, it was more a case of ‘The Two’. He’d gotten to the point where he could admit that, if only to himself. He’d fallen—hard—for Beez and Alcy. It was why he wanted to spend every waking moment with them. He knew he was fooling himself, though. Despite what Mr. McAffrey said, they’d finish their assignment and go. That part wasn’t even in doubt anymore. Alcy kept assuming Carter had made a choice, and Beez? He had just shown how much he wanted Carter to find someone so he could go back to doing whatever sex demons did.

Leaving Carter alone.

Carter no longer had any interest in meeting someone. From the time he woke up until he went to sleep, Alcy and Beez occupied his mind. He’d been surprised when they split their time again. He’d thought—hoped—they’d enjoy spending time together with him. And now…I’m living a pipe dream, aren’t I?These guys were only interested in doing their job and moving on. Full stop.

“Carter?”
