Keeping low and trying to stay in the brush that littered the edge of the road, I crept forward. I spotted a black vehicle parked with the engine running, but the lights were off.Do I risk it? What if it's more guards watching the road in case we left? Then the door to the van opened with six men emerging all giving each other silent signals. I almost turned to head back to Savo when I spotted Rafael emerge from the van.
“Please remember if Cambrie is scared and you try to grab her without explaining, it will trigger a panic attack,” he warned. “I understand there might not be time but if possible just tell her who you are and that we sent you.”
“We’ll do our best, if she’s with Savo then it might not be an issue. Our guy says he hardly ever leaves her side,” the apparent leader answered.
That was all I needed to hear before I burst out of the brush and screamed with all my might waving my arms. “Over here! Please help, Savo’s hurt!”
Rafael’s head snapped in my direction and he was off running to me. Seconds later, I was scooped up and my face was buried in my Alpha’s sandalwood and vanilla scent, making me sob with relief. Everything I’d been holding back for the past few days burst, and I sobbed into his neck as he covered me in kisses.
“Little One, oh my precious Little One, you’re really here in my arms,” Rafael muttered over and over, clutching me to his body.
He started to walk toward the van and that had me pulling myself together. “No, we need to go back for Savo. He’s hurt, we need to rescue him.”
“It’s alright Cambrie, the others will grab him, you're my priority right now. We need to get you safe, the others are waiting for you,” he answered, trying to soothe me.
I struggled in Rafael’s arms, panic filling me at the thought of being separated from Savo. “You don’t understand, Ican’tleave him, Rafael. He needs me, they shot him, and he wasn’t waking up,” I said hysterically.
Rafael stopped and loosened his hold to look me in the face. “Cambrie, what do you mean you can’t leave him?”
I bit my lip but released it the second Rafael frowned at the nervous habit. “Do you promise not to be mad at him? I’ll understand if you don’t want me anymore after what happened, but I can’t stand the thought of him getting hurt when he did it to save me.”
“Shh, Little One take a deep breath,” Rafael urged, cupping my face and using his thumb to wipe away my tears. “There is nothing you can say to me that will make me turn away from you, Cambrie. I love you, and whatever happens, we can work through it no matter what it is.”
“Do you mean that?” I asked with a sniffle. “No matter what it is?”
“On my honor as an Alpha, whatever you tell me will not change how I feel about you,” Rafael vowed, his face serious, readying himself for whatever I was going to tell him.
“Savo and I are bonded. He’s really an Alpha,” I blurted out.
Rafael’s whole body sagged in relief, as if he’d been expecting me to say something so much worse. “While that is a big deal and not something I expected you to say, nothing about that changes my relationship with you.”
If I hadn’t already fallen for this man, who has always gone above and beyond to treasure my heart, this moment would have solidified my feelings.
“I love you too, Rafy, with all my heart,” I shared, leaning in and kissing my Alpha, trying to show him just how much he meant to me.
Having found my pack and then being torn away from them, showed me just how much I loved them. Each of these men were a part of me and I needed them to feel whole. While Savo kept me strong and sane through all that happened in that house, I needed the rest of them just as much.
“Little One, you honor me with your confession and I will always do whatever I can to deserve that love. Now, let’s go check on your Alpha,” Rafael said, pressing a kiss to my forehead as we headed the way I’d come.
Three men were hovering around Savo, who was thrashing about. “Get the fuck away from me. Where is Cambrie? What have you done with my Omega?Keksík!” he bellowed.
“Shut the fuck up, you idiot,” a man snapped at Savo. “Look, I get you’re upset but calling out our position isn’t going to help anyone, least of all your Omega. Also, since when have you been a goddamn Alpha?”
My anger at the way that man was yelling at Savo had me all but growling. “Don’t you dare talk to him like that,” I shouted. Everyone’s heads snapped to look at me in Rafael’s arms. “You have no idea what he had to do to keep me safe and I don’t like your tone, mister.”
Rafael snorted, trying to keep from laughing at the soldiers blinking at me but Savo just grinned, grabbing the guy who yelled at him. “You heard the lady, watch your tone and help me the hell up, boss.”
“Yeah, I heard her, sounds like she’s the perfect woman to handle your bossy bullshit,” Savo’s boss muttered, helping Savo to his feet. “Looks like they got you in the leg. Any other injuries we should know about?”
“I think I hit my head on a rock when we rolled down the hill, which knocked me the hell out, but other than that I’ll be fine,” Savo answered.
His boss gave him a look that told me he didn’t believe my Alpha in the slightest. “We need to get her to safety, then I’m dragging your ass to our guy to have you looked over. I know you can’t go to a hospital right now, but I would be the world’s shitiest boss if I didn’t make sure you weren’t going to die.”
I tensed in Rafael’s arms and Savo’s gaze locked on mine as if he knew I was worried. “I’ll be fine,Keksík.He’s just being overly cautious.” Then his eyes shifted from mine to Rafael’s. “She tell you?”
Rafael nodded. “Let’s worry about that after we get you both somewhere safe and looked over. The others are waiting for word at the safe house we’ll stay at until the rest of our plan can be put into play, removing the real danger.”
“Sounds good to me,” Savo agreed.
