Every thought going through my head came to a screeching halt as teeth pierced through the skin of my butt cheek. A euphoric sensation flooded my body as I felt a connection, a link between Savo and me clicked into place. The feel of his tongue running over the mark he just made had me moaning, because it felt like he was licking my clit instead of my ass.
“You’re mine now,Keksík. They can’t send you to Shearia anymore,” Savo stated as he shifted me lower in his arms and turned us to face the oncoming men. “You hear that assholes, this Omega has been marked and bonded to an Alpha. Lay a finger on her, and I will rip out your hearts for such an insult.”
The sound of feet came to a stop. “Fuck.”
Chapter 13
Savomarkedme.
I was now a bonded Omega to Savo.Oh my god, what were the others going to think? Were they going to hate me? Will they still want me if Savo nowhasto be part of the pack?
“You bastard, how did no one realize you’re an Alpha this whole time?” a man demanded. “We still can’t let you leave. Once a person enters this house they stay until Yoram decides they can go, and she was the first person that was ever going to walk out of here.”
Savo adjusted my dress so my butt was now covered and tucked me close to his chest. “I don’t really care what you or Yoram think. That man is on borrowed time as it is, or didn’t you hear the news?”
Turning my head slightly, I watched the guards and their confused expressions. Then the door behind us opened and a woman was standing there. At least I think it was a woman, she was so frail and gaunt, she could have been a ghost. Then as I looked at her longer, she reminded me so much of my mother— the woman who claimed to be my mother, that is. This must be her sister that Arthur had mentioned.
“What’s going on here?” she questioned, then spotted me. “You!”
I yelped as she lunged at me, but Savo maneuvered me out of her way and away from the guards. “Hold on tight,Keksík. We’re going to make a run for it,” Savo warned before he darted into the room the woman came out of, slamming the secret door behind us.
We were now in a room that looked like a hoarder lived in it. Stacks of newspapers were piled on any flat surface, with clippings pinned to the walls. Black marker was used to write around all of them with nonsensical phrases, but it didn’t take a genius to figure out what they meant. This woman hated Yoram and Omegas with a burning passion. It’s almost as if she believes that ifallOmegas were wiped from the earth her life would be better.
“What happened to her?” I whispered, fearing if I spoke too loud she might pop out of some dark corner and attack me.
I could hear her screaming on the other side of the secret door, banging on it to let her back in, but Savo was already heading for the door that should lead us back into the house. He let go of me with one hand and pulled out his gun, the cool metal chilling my skin where it rested on my thigh.
“Are you really going to kill them?” I questioned as I tucked my face against his neck.
“Only if they leave me no choice, but if it's them or us, it’s always going to be them,” Savo said with a finality to his tone, telling me I wasn’t going to change his mind.
“Savo!” a man hollered down the hall. “Hurry up, I don’t know what you did but shit hit the fan, and we gotta get a move on it. Rick is in place. We just need to be ready at the exit point.”
I peeked out and saw a young man closer to my age waving Savo to hurry. “It’s alright,Keksík, he’s a friend who's been helping me get in contact with your pack. Help is coming, and we’ll be out of this slice of hell soon. Just keep your head down.”
We made it down to the first floor without any trouble, but as we made our way down the hall, five men appeared with guns at the ready. “Stop right there,” a man ordered. “Put the Omega down and step away from her.”
“Sorry guys, that's not going to happen,” Savo answered. “I would rather I didn’t have to kill you since it’s going to upset my Omega. So, when I ask you to let us go, I’m doing it for her not because I have any hesitation about killing you where you stand.”
“We both know that if we let you leave, he’s going to kill us anyway,” another of them spoke. “This is a lose-lose situation, but there are two of you and five of us. I like our chances.”
Savo grunted and kissed the side of my head. “I’m sorry.”
Before I could ask what he was talking about, three shots went off in quick succession, making me flinch at the sound and my ears ring. Before I could even make sense of what was happening, another volley of shots echoed in the hall as Savo charged forward and ducked into a room. Two more shots and the sound of glass shattering made me cry out as Savo vaulted out of a window into the night air.
The weather was still cool and the sun was starting to set, making the sky a bright orange bleeding into pink. Normally, I would have appreciated the view but all I could focus on was the metallic scent of blood. I knew I wasn’t hurt, so it had to be Savo.
“Are you alright?” I asked desperately as I clung to him.
He didn’t answer as he ran through the yard toward a low stone wall. Just when I thought he might need to slow down or turn to avoid the wall, he pushed harder. To keep myself from screaming, I bit down on Savo’s shoulder trying to stifle the sound as he hurdled over the stone wall. He used a hand to propel us further, but what I saw on the other side had me closing my eyes and squeezing his neck so hard I was worried I might be choking him. The drop on the other side of the wall was much steeper and I wasn’t sure how we would land without one of us getting hurt.
Savo wrapped his arms around my body as we landed and immediately started to roll down the rest of the hill. I could hear twigs snapping and Savo grunting every now and then until we came to a stop. When he didn’t start moving right away, I wriggled out of his arms to look him over. There was blood seeping out of a wound in his leg and he was covered in cuts everywhere his skin showed. He lay there on his back ensuring that I was safe, eyes closed and breath shallow.
“No, no, no, no, Savo,” I cried, clutching his face, willing him to open his eyes. “Please, please wake up. You need to get up. We aren't safe yet,” I begged. “You got us out of the house, but I don’t know where we’re supposed to meet the others. Savo, I need you, wake up!”
Leaning down, I kissed him because that’s what all the fairy tales I read said to do. He was my guardian angel who promised to never leave me. This had to work. When he still didn’t wake, I got up and tried to move him, but he was far too heavy for me to even budge. I looked around wildly and spotted we were near a road.Could that be where he was trying to get us to?
“I’ll be right back,” I whispered, placing another quick kiss on his lips.
