“Okay.”

Chapter Eighteen

Caylee hummed to herself and thought about what she’d be making for dinner. She wanted to make it special because that was when she’d tell him about her trip. She knew Nolan wouldn’t be happy about it, but she hoped he understood.

Her stomach twisted, and her mouth fell open when the elevator slid open, and her first sight was Nolan, with his arms crossed and an angry look on his hard face. Oh, damn, he’d already found out.

“Um, hi,” she said.

“Say goodbye to your friends and then go to our room. I’ll be right there.”

“But, Daddy, let me tell…”

“No, baby girl. You’ll do what I say because you don’t want to get into any more trouble, do you?”

Her shoulders dropped, and she shook her head. “No.” She turned to the men. “Thank you. Be safe.”

Before she walked away, she stopped in front of Nolan. “Please don’t blame them. This is all on me.”

“Oh, I already know that. Now, go.”

She walked back to the bedroom, closed the door, walked over to the window, looked out, and waited.

She was a little worried about how Nolan would deal with the situation. While she knew she’d be in trouble, his look made her cringe. She didn’t think she’d ever seen him that mad before, and the fact that she was the cause scared her.

Oh, he wouldn’t physically hurt her, but the unknown was making her nervous.

Nolan pinched the bridge of his nose. His blood pressure had been sky-high since he got the text from Raul telling him what his Caylee was up to. Now that she was home, he relaxed alittle, but he was still too tense to deal with her, and he was afraid he’d hurt her feelings.

“Thank you, guys, for taking her and telling me, although I wish you’d told me before she walked into the prison.”

“We knew you’d try to stop her, and she already threatened to go back without any of us if we didn’t go,” Brodie said. “We thought it would be safer for her to have two agents with her than no one.”

Nolan nodded. He was learning his little was one of the sweetest people he’d ever met and one of the stubbornest. “Yes, and she would have.”

“I think she’s done with her escapades,” Raul said. “She’s done some damage that Jones will feel for a while.”

“Oh, hell, what did she do?” Nolan asked.

The men went through Caylee’s conversation with Jones and what she did before he left the room.

Nolan couldn’t help it. He threw back his head and laughed. When he finally calmed down, he wiped the tears from his face. “Fuck, I’m going to have to watch my step with her.”

All three laughed.

“I would. If I were you, I’d keep her within arm’s length if you piss her off,” Raul said. “She’s going to keep you on your toes.”

“Oh, hell yes, and probably give me a heart attack,” Nolan said, making them laugh again.

“We’ll head out. Call if you need anything,” Brodie said.

“Thanks again,” he said.

Nolan waited until the elevator door closed before he turned toward the bedroom. He took a minute to inhale deep breaths before heading in to deal with his little.

He quietly shut the bedroom door and watched her for a moment. Good, he could tell she was nervous.
