Her energy level was high, and her excitement was off the charts. She couldn’t wait to be alone in Nolan’s place. She was happy for the first time in longer than she could remember. She just hoped it lasted.
Chapter Six
Nolan was flipping pancakes when Jonah and Holly walked in.
“Good morning,” he said.
“Morning. What can we help with?” Jonah asked.
“Nothing. Caylee and I have it done, so go ahead and sit down.”
Nolan ate for several minutes before putting his fork down and taking a sip of his coffee. “We wanted to talk to you two.”
Jonah and Holly looked at him.
“Caylee and I have decided to move into my condo today.”
Holly’s gaze went to Caylee. “Is that what you want?”
“Yes. Are you okay with me not being here all the time?”
“It will be weird, but it has to happen sometime,” Holly said.
“You’ll see each other every day, girls,” Nolan said.
“That will help,” Holly said. “When today are you thinking?”
Nolan picked up Caylee’s hand. “Right after breakfast. We’ve got some packages of clothing we ordered to go through, and we’ll have to order some groceries. All you have to do is call if you need to see her.”
Holly nodded and smiled. “As long as Caylee’s happy, I am.”
“I’m very happy,” Caylee said.
“Let’s finish so we can get some things done,” Nolan said. He was anxious to get his girl alone and in his own home.
They all cleaned up the dishes, and Caylee hugged Holly goodbye before Nolan took her hand and led her into the elevator.
When the door slid open on his level, he stepped out withan arm around her waist. “It’s the same setup as Jonah’s condo, just different colors, and furniture. It was like this when I moved in, and since I don’t plan to live here too much longer, I left it the way it was.” He didn’t mention that his plans would have to change because of Caylee’s predicament. He didn’t want to remind her of it the first time he saw her home.
“I think it’s nice.”
“Here are the packages I had someone drop off for us. Let’s take them into the bedroom and put them away.”
“Oh, my, there are so many. I didn’t want you to buy me this much.”
“I enjoyed it.” He gathered up the majority of the sacks. Once in the master bedroom, he set the bags on the bed and started taking things out of them. “I’ll grab some scissors to cut the tags off.”
Caylee held up a light-blue blouse. “This is so pretty, Nolan.”
“I had a lot of fun.”
“When did you do this?”
“While you and Holly were watching a movie.”
It took them an hour to put everything away.
“There is bubble bath, women’s shampoo and conditioner, and other things that were suggested that you’d like.”
