I plop down at the kitchen table and think. “But she didn’t say no?”
He shakes his head. “No, she didn’t say no. Maybe bring it up in a few more days? I feel a strong connection to her, but I won’t pursue anything real until her ascens—”
I cough loudly to cover up that word, as I hear her opening the door behind us.
Arrow’s eyes go wide and he shoves the rest of his food in his mouth.Smooth, man.
I hide my smile behind my fist and turn, opening my arms for her. She hesitates for a moment, looking Arrow’s way. When he smiles, she sashays into my arms and wraps her arms around my neck. I lean down to kiss her, but she shakes her head no, so I kiss her forehead instead. She sighs and moves closer to me, hugging me tight.
I look at Arrow over her head and he just shrugs.Well okay then.
“Everything alright babe?” I ask.
She pulls away from me, looking down and biting her lip nervously. Why would she be nervous?
“Would you guys watch a sad movie with me?” she says quietly.
Arrow looks constipated and I burst out laughing at the look on his face.
“Forget it. It’s not a big deal. I’ll see you guys in the morning.” She turns to leave but I stop her.
“We grew up with Donovan's sister, Silver. We’ve seen our share of chick flicks. Why don’t I make us some popcorn and grab my TV, and we’ll meet you in your room?”
She gives me a huge smile and kisses my cheek, before hopping over to Arrow to do the same and head toward her room.
Arrow comes up beside me and punches me in the arm. “Really, man? You know what sad movies do to me. Talk about embarrassing me in front of her. Plus, you don’t have a TV in your room...?”
I shrug and walk to the pantry. “Just conjure one up. I’ll be there in a few minutes. Help her pick a movie—notMarley & Me.”
He laughs at that.
“I mean it, Arrow!”
He walks in my room to ‘grab’ my TV.
The popcorn doesn’t take long. I dump it into a big bowl, grab a few bottles of water and make my way into the room to watch a movie with my girl and my best friend.
Wait, my girl? When did a protection assignment become so much more?
“Are you coming?” Silver teases, taking the waters from my hand. She leans up to give me a quick kiss and I know. That is how this became more. It’s her.
SILVER
I take the waters from Wellson and set them on the nightstand. Jax is currently hooking up a movie for us to watch—I told him he could pick as long as it would make me cry.
Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the day I lost my family... I don’t want to make a big deal of it, so if I happen to break down and cry just watching a sad movie, no one will know. I take a seat in the middle of my bed and Wells crawls up from the end, hovering over me. I stare into his cinnamon eyes before he leans down and gives me a scorching kiss. Before I can kiss him back, he rolls over and lays next to me, grabbing the bowl of popcorn and plopping it on my lap.
I let out a breath and fan my face. These guys seriously have me in a state of arousal twenty-four seven. I give him a look and he just laughs and kisses the tip of my nose.
Jax comes around the other side of the bed and kicks his shoes off before curling up next to me.Is it hot in here?God, these guys are so hot.
I lean back and try to focus on the movie in front of me but to be honest, I don’t even know what we’re watching right now. Wells has decided to use one of my boobs as a pillow, and Jax has his hand on my thigh, lightly rubbing his thumb back and forth.
I lean back farther and groan. “Okay, I have to be honest here. You guys are just too fucking hot!”
They both snort simultaneously.
“Um, thank you. I think?” Jax says.
